How would one go about Iodizing salt?

Why on earth would you iodize salt? What does it do that makes it so much better than "real" salt? What are some of the dangers of using iodized salt?

You iodize it becaise iodine is a neccesary nutrient. There's no dangers, and you can't do it yourself.
