I'm also 5'4" and had the same problem what I did to lose weight is simple eat smaller portions of food and if you really want to snack try fruit or vegies, if that doesn't help drink a large glass of water it will simulate the " full " feeling. Also try going for small walks when you get the chance. This worked for me maybe it will work for you to! Good luck!

I will answer your question but I will also attach a warning to it.
I am assuming you want to lose weight because you want to "slim" down because you "think" you are carrying a little extra weight. Well, no one can give you a number of calories you need to stay below in order to lose weight I would guestimate anywhere from 1000-1500(unless they're a smart *** and say 0) because it really is dependant upon your metabolism (in case you don't know what that is, it's the ability and rate at which your body is able to burn energy, the slower it is the more you will bulk up, either in a fat way or muscular way, the higher your metabolism the more you will slim down and be able to see muscular definition, being "cut") When you reduce your bodies calorie intake and lose weight you are not actually loosing fat because you are in essence starving yourself. When your body goes into starvation mode your body is feeding on it's own muscular mass before it feeds off of it's fat stores. The reason for this is your muscle is primarily made up of proteins which is the most readily available form of energy. Now the more muscle you have or the more toned your muscle is the more capable your body is of getting rid of it's fat content. Another thing to keep in mind, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you work out or run and see you are not loosing weight but actually gain weight, you are not getting fatter you are just swapping fat for muscle. Be carefull with reducing calorie intake, it's bad for you

Well, unless you are petite, your weight is fine for your frame.
For a person your size, I would say 1,500 to 1,800 calories...that's IF you consume more than that.
What you need to do is keep a food journal, and document everything you eat...EVERYTHING.
Find out where you ARE at (how many calories a day you're consuming) and then knock off about 500 calories.
Another thing to do, is if you're not very physically active, is to keep eating what you normally do, and increase your physical activity...you burn more calories from increasing exercise...if you do both at the same time (reduce calories and start exercising) then you will find yourself exhausted.

That depends on how many calories you are using every day.
