The common explanation is due to the fact that the devil (Lucifer) was not human, but an angel. God does not grant the same (for lack of a better word) rights to angels as humans, as angels are designed to be flawless and live constantly in God's presence. Angels should know better, unlike humans, who are flawed and make silly mistakes, like some sort of metaphysical children or puppy dogs.
The whole Fall of Lucifer story is, incidentally, not in the Bible anywhere. It comes from John Milton's Paradise Lost, which relates Lucifer's story. How this renaissance poem (which is somewhat sympathetic to the fallen angel) became a religious source is one of the great mysteries of organized religion.

The Bible doesn't go into a lot of details, but knowing God's character, I believe he was given plenty of opportunity to turn around. The danger of sin is it alienates one from the life of God to the point where one doesn't even consider repentance as a desirable option. I don't believe that the Devil would accept a full and complete pardon from God today even if it was offered him. He would laugh in God's face - the same way as many of the mockers and scoffers on this website would. This truth is reflected in the words of Scripture in II Chronicles 36:15,16, where before the destruction of Jerusalem these words were spoken: "And the Lord, the God of their fathers sent word to them again and again by his messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place; but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, until THERE WAS NO REMEDY."

God did not forgive the devil because the devil did not want to be forgiven.

God forgives all persons who are sorry for the bad things that they did and who stop doing those things. If Satan had done that God would have forgiven him.
But Satan didn't. He's not sorry. He's very evil. Although he knows that God will destroy him one day (as the Bible says) he doesn't care. He continues to deceive people. Satan even tries to make us believe that God isn't love and that God is guilty for the bad things that happen. The bad part is that the Devil most of the time makes it. Humans are easy to fool and when they hear the truth they reject it.Don't forget that the ruler of this world is Satan (2Corinthians 4:4).

Exactly! God will forgive all who truly repent. The devil is neither remorseful nor does he have regrets about his decision. If the devil truly repented, he would have forgiveness extended to him. He has not done so, and will not do so. He wants to be where he is and God is loving enough to grant him what he wants.

God would. I'm sure He would. But the devil hates God. God will forgive anyone..... IF they repent. Which I doubt Satan will ever repent. So, yes I think so. Well, I KNOW so. God will forgive anyone as long as they are sorry & they love God.

The must be opposition in all things. God didn't forgive Saten because He needed to use the devil so that there would be opposition in all things.
Before the whole apple incident, there was no good in the world, because there was no bad. You can't have one without the other. God is good, perfect, but in order for us to see that there has to be someone else who is His opposite.

hmmm let me think here..the "Devil" is actually the fallen angel Lucifer. After the battle in Heaven he was placed on Earth as punishment by God (makes us worry why we are here huh?). To be forgiven you must first accept the fact you need to be. Satan, Lucifer, the Devil, Old Nick, Mr. Hobbs, whatever you want to call him is unrepentent ,so he is damned there for eternity..sucks to be him!

The devil doesn't want forgiveness, he wants only to make others suffer, to wield the power that has corrupted him, the power of God, the power that should never be his in the first place, he wants to enslave humanity and lead it on a path of suffering and damnation. Go can not forgive that, but if the devil wants, he could try to change his ways, but he doesn't.

Yes it is tragic, the most beautiful angel in heaven who had it all, and then foolishly lost it all. The devil realizes that he is the loser, he tried to take over God's throne and have himself to be worshiped, and he knows his judgment. He doesn't surrender because he is filled with narcissistic pride, which also makes it unlikely for him to humble himself to righten himself with God. Yes, God would forgive him, but scripture reveals that he never repents.
