I am nothing. My life is torture, i'm told i'm supposed to be grateful for the "gift" of life.

they are wrong, you are supposed to strive to make your life better, not just accept what you have.

Because you have the good fortune to be born as a human and can cultivate a calm mind free of aversion to the things you think you "hate" or dislike, and clinging and attachments to the things you think (falsely) bring you "happiness". If your life is torture, then cultivate the causes and conditions for a better karmic outcome. You're CERTAINLY NOT "nothing"... if you were nothing you wouldn't be typing now would you? And since you're not any one particular "thing" or label YOU have the power to decide who and what you are to a degree within realistic boundaries of course, and therefore you're able to CHANGE the circumstances of your life... you're not going to become Batman though... *w*.

beacuase what they say is true. God is the one keeping this world alive. HE could easliy burn the whole world with His command. Snap of His fingers, or just His thoughts. So if your life sucks - be thankful for one thing: that God is loving and He is still sustaining the world. and if you are wondering why the your life sucks and why you should be grateful, I would say "start making a list of things you have (including life & God's love. because everyone has that). even if you are homeless, you should be thankful for God & the gift of heaven. man, you are an ingrate.

God gave you life! Things happen to us all for reasons that we don't even know. Some things are good and some things are bad. God knew that man is weak in heart, that's why he sent Jesus here to die for all of mankind. I know how you must feel, because I'm going through some bad times right now as well. But I thank God for all that he has done. And I asked him to make it better for me! There's a lot of things to be grateful for. I'm grateful for the Creator of man, I'm grateful for what Jesus did for us all, and I'm grateful to be alive! If I happen to die right now I know where I would go! I would go and be with my heavenly father. And for that I'm extremely grateful. Ask God to help you and he will!

You life is what you make it, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and do something about it. Yes you should be grateful that you are sucking air, if only for that. You are being facetious, because you DO have a computer, and probably a whole lot more luxuries, get a grip!!
