Im having trouble running an old Might and magic game on my pc, anyone have any suggestions?

I have windows XP and I play to old Hugos House of Horrors DOS based game, not a complicated game, but I simply extracted the zip file, found the execution file and hit enter and wamo I am playing away. You don't have all recall functions if the game is to restart, but that's not a problem for me. Go with answer 1 to go full DOS and get all the features for your game.
