i asked this for Catholics to realize that maybe they need to study their faith in order to be able to defend it well, and not be swayed against it.

snowflakes: with your uneducated way of speech, i believe you should be dealing with the likes of you. if you're too blind enough as to be unable to see that there have been Catholics that turned against their Church due to lack of knowledge of what their Church teaches them. can you at least try to sound educated? if you're a Catholic, you are a big mistake.

Yes, indeed. Unfortunately, many Catholics today are ripe for the plucking by any fundy who can robotically quote scripture. Catechesis has generally been in the toilet since Vatican II; my cradle-Catholic husband knows next to nothing about the faith, and the fundies already came and snatched his brother. I'm a convert to Catholicism, and it breaks my heart to see how little many cradle-Catholics know about their faith.

I am a Catholic I read the Bible and follow Gods Law I believe in the Church and I have faith
If people took time in reading about the Church they would not come on here and criticise our faith.
I Don't believe in criticising other peoples faiths and beliefs so why does people always run down the Church or any other religion that to me is not a true Christian
God Bless You

How about all people of all faiths becoming a little more educated on the tenants and history of their religion? Catholics aren't the only people who can be ignorant about their own religion.
The good news is that adult catechesis has been on the rise in the last 10 years, both in availability and quality. There are also numerous programs that offer everything from workshops to degrees in different areas of Catholicism. I for one took advantage of these more recent offerings and got my Masters degree.

we shouldn't ignore what other people think and say about our faith,if we did we would not be able to evangelise the truth of our church. two websites that help me and may be very good for other catholics and also other christians/religions are scripturecatholic.com, it goes through some of the ,main areas where the catholic church differs from others and shows where and why using scripture(hence the site name i guess...lol) the other website is salvationhistory.com, it has alot of cool stuff including free on-line studies for beginners to those more advanced.

They should. It's a beautiful faith, and Catholicism, not necessarily Roman, but one of the Catholic churches, is the only logical conclusion to the New Testament.

Amen.
Then they need to answer the question of which they believe more - the pope or the bible, because Catholic doctrine is frequently in direct contradiction to the bible. The bible even calls some expressly stated Catholic teachings 'doctrines of devils'. It was easier to get away with that stuff back when the Roman Catholic Church had enough pull to have people killed that tried to publish the bible in a language other than Latin.

Or actually study the Bible.
If they did that, they wouldn't be Catholic.
