No, there isn't something wrong with your son. Every child develops differently. My oldest daughter started walking at 8 months and my youngest daughter just started walking a few months ago at 14 months.
The doctors will usually tell you that it there isn't anything wrong with him as long as he has "tried" to walk and by the looks of it he has tried and is capable of walking (since he's able to walk along the furniture). No worries.
Oh and if he's a fast crawler then that's probably why he's delaying in that area. My youngest daughter was a quick crawler and the doctor said it was probably the cause of the delay. Meaning that they are such fast crawler that they don't want to waste their time on something they aren't so fast at...but she finally got around to it and is doing just great. So, I am sure that your son will get around to it and will be jumping and running all over the place as mine.
:)

Hi there, my little girl is 17 months old and she is starting to walk now, she is later than my first child but every child is different, it doesn't mean there is something wrong, your little boy sounds as though he is progressing fine, he's making all the right advances, my little girl walked along furniture right up until yesterday, now she has just started taking her own steps and last week there was absolutely no sign of her walking, so, he'll do it when he's good and ready, I walked about the house with my little girl and encouraged her by sitting on the floor and placing her a few feet away, she wasn't interested and as I say just outta the blue, she has been getting herself up from the floor, finding her balance and just started walking overnight, so I am sure he will be walking before you know it and then you will be worrying about catching him, before he gets into something he's not suppost too, lolol.
Hope this helps.

13 months is not late. It is well within the "normal" range of beginning walkers. You say he is cruising furniture, so that means that he is building up the leg muscles that he will be using to walk. If he is not walking on his own by the time he is 18 months, see the pediatrician about it. In the meantime, make it fun to learn how to walk... take time in the evenings when both you and your partner are home to have your son walk between the two of you as you sit on the floor. Have him start out by reaching and taking maybe one step to the other person, and gradually build up to taking a few more independent steps.

I have never heard the correlation between teeth and walking. I would not be the least concerned about your son though. Every child is sooo different and I'm sure if the doctors were concerned they would speak to you about it. My friends child refused to walk by himself until 15 months and then all of a sudden he was just running...he didn't go through the really clumsy phase so maybe that is what your son will do. Hang in there!

There is nothing wrong with your son! Both my kids walked around 14 months, and they both teethed early. Just give a few more weeks and he'll be off and running. Believe me you will have your hands full, they discover a whole new world once they start walking. If your still concerned after a month or so talk to your Pediatrician. God Bless.

I don't know about the teething thing, but not walking at 13 months is still okay. Babies all develop at different rates. If he is walking along furniture, it sounds like the idea is at least on his mind. He'll do it in time.

Relax Mommy,
All babies really DO grow and achive milestones at different rates. None of my babies walked anytime before 13 months old and I wouldn't worry if he's 15 months old before he let's go of the furniture.
No, I don't believe that teeting has anything to do with when they walk. Ya know what? If anything, maybe he's been spending most of his time paying attention to other things such as launguage and will end up a smarter one for learning so early.
He's quite normal!!! : )

hi, my cousin is a speech pathologist assisstant and that i asked her the genuine comparable factor while my son did no longer talk via 15 months. specific he reported mama and dada yet did no longer look interested in repeating / imitating speach. I sat back and watched as my pal's teenagers could have a vocabulary of like 5-10 words at this factor. I too began to be irritating yet she insisted that no speech pathologist will additionally seem at a baby till they're a minimum of 18 - 24 months as there is the variety of extensive array as to what's common. My son grew to become into an early mover nonetheless and grew to become into crawling via 10 months and strolling via 13 months. Ive heard some say that early walkers are previous due talkers and vice versa. At sixteen months, my son had a "change" bypass off and commenced speaking like loopy. docs call it a vocabulary explosion and it is genuine! My son began imitating sounds / words merely approximately on an familiar basis. he's now 3 a million/2 years previous and we cant end him from speaking, even his well being care expert jokes that he on no account stops speaking!! do no longer rigidity out approximately it yet and proceed to talk to him / motivate him. stable success!

My son didn't start walking until he was 13.5 months old. At 16 months he was running, jumping, climbing, the works. In addition, he didn't start getting teeth until 12.5 months old, so I don't think there is any correlation.
I know it can be difficult to trust that we have given birth to "normal" healthy babies, and it is very easy to doubt that you have been blessed with someone so wonderful, but more than likely, your baby is just as perfect as you suspect!
One thing to NOT do is to attempt to "teach" you baby to do things that he is not ready for(based on his willingness to do it on his own). Don't put him in walkers, or "walk" him around by the hands if he resist. Let him learn on his own. In good time him will do the things that are natural for him to do when he is fully prepared(mentally, emotionally, physically). Only he knows when that time is, just be ready with your camera when he takes off! There's no stopping them afterwards. LOL.

No, I think up to 16-18 months is ok if they aren't walking... sounds like your son will be walking in no time though- my son pulled himself up and later was walking 2 weeks before his first b-day.... every baby is different,s o don't feel bad... it should happen here soon. My son got lot's of teeth early, and as I told you, was walking 2 weeks before his b-day, so again, I feel every baby is different!
