Can't we just say "I am not sure' rather than quickly arriving at a conclusion?

For example : astrology

i wish some people would be more honest like this
if you arent sure then say so or dont comment
but so many people just state their opinion without knowing what they are talking about
this is confusing for someone who is truely looking for answers

Because the hardest thing for most people to do is admit their ignorance.... they dont realize that by denying their ignorance they are shutting themselves off from further learning and knowledge. You cannot learn about something until you admit you know nothing about it... that scares some people and they have to violently disagree or fanatically agree to feel intelligent. Most people are incapable of agreeing to disagree.

For Example... Astrology, as in the Zodiac well there is not scientific evidence conclusively proving it is 100% correct all of the time, however neither is there evidence conclusively proving its incorrect 100% of the time.... Admittedly we have no actual knowledge that gives us a 100% correct answer to that question... and yet as demonstrated above people have to decide to agree or disagree and they cannot find middle ground, they are unbalanced. I admit that I dont know if the Zodiac can truly predict what a person is like based on the position of planets and constellations when they are born, yet I think it is not impossible that the powerful occurences of the natural world surrounding your birth date can somewhat influence what you are like personality wise.... I have read many different sun sign personality descriptions of me and all of my friends and family members and I have to admit that they accurately portray the archtypes of each of thier personalities. That doesnt prove that it is real and correct, it just proves what my personal opinion on the subject is, I still admit I am ignorant to any actual proof that it is real or not but I can have a personal opnion based on my own observations... my opinion leads me to admit I do not know if the Zodiac is real or not, and I cannot say it is real until I have proof directly in front of me, but I can say that I believe it has basis in reality and I think it will one day be proven true. That is the middle ground most people cant find to stand upon... it leads them to irrational, illogical and ignorant assertions in a discussion where they pander their personal opinions as incontrivertable fact...

You want people to consider that there is something to astrology?

Oh please - only if you accept that there is a hippo in Africa who wears a cape and flies around rescuing people.

Hell thats more likely than astrology. Theres no mechanism - how disgustingly arrogant to think that the planets give a damn what happens to us - remember they were just tiny dots on a crystal sphere when astrolgy was popular - its despicable that we've learned so much and yet ignorant people continue to believe in that.

The premise is that the movement of the planets affect our behaviour here on Earth. That claim can be tested, it has been and its false. Of that I am sure, its called getting an education and staying current.

There are some things I am genuinely not sure about, that isn't one of them.

If anyone could actually demonstrate that astrology is anything more than junk, there might be something to talk about.

Much better to have a possibility of being right than no possibility at all!
