Your dough is too wet. You may need to reduce the butter or liquid in the mix, or as the poster above me mentioned, try flattening them on the sheet a little bit so they bake more evenly.

Are you greasing the cookie sheet? With all the butter/crisco, you surely do not want anymore. My mom continuously had this situation. we would use the real comparable recipe and hers could be flat and mine could be puffy. For the longest time, I figured i might desire to be doing some thing incorrect because of the fact i presumed Chocolate Chip cookies have been meant to be flat! :D

When making Choclate chip cookies, you should do half butter & half Shorting (Cisco is good brand). So if the recipe calls for a 1 of butter/margerine, then do 1/2 cup butter & 1/2 cup shorting. They tast better and look fluffier that way.

Hello,
Usually when that happens, it's when you are placing them in a "ball" on the cookie sheet, too much liquid in the cookie mix... add a little bit more flour and flatten it just a bit... almost like a hamburger patty if that helps...
Good luck!

Does this recipe call for eggs? If so, you may need to add a little more egg to the recipe. thats generally what is need when you make cookies and cakes if you wnat them thicker and more fluffy.

I don't care what the cookies look like as long as they taste good.
I hope you figure it out because you do care about what they look like.
Good luck.
