All of a sudden I'm not getting fuel to the motor (6cyl). I'm thinking new pump or filter, but then I heard about a fuel cut off or inertia switch. That sounds like it could be my problem, but I can't find it to save my life (or my truck). I've read it's on the passenger side firewall in the cab, but I don't know what I'm looking for, and I can't see any spring loaded buttons to reset. Help!

Okay, I found the Fuel Inertia Shut-off switch - it was mounted on the driver's side firewall - but it turned out that it wasn't the problem. If I let the truck sit for a day, then the next day it will start, but only run for about 2 seconds, then die. I definitely don't have any fuel going to the motor because I checked the release valve and nothing comes out.

I'll check the relay and report back. Any other ideas or is this just a pump problem.

You may need to remove the side panel to see the switch. The fuel pump relay may be bad it is on the left side of truck under hood it is the green colored one.If you need more help e mail me.there are other things that could be wrong.there is a brown relay next to the green one for the comp. the relays are colored at the bottom part of the relay .the OEM relays are colored after market are not.The relay is about $20 or less.If replacing the green relay don't work then try the brown one it uses the same relay

Its located in front of the passenger door behind the plastic molding. If you need a new on the part # is F5AZ-9341-A thats the oem # from ford. All so try and see if there is fuel in the fuel rail. Crank the motor and have a friend push on the valve. It looks like a valve stem.

It sounds alot like a plugged fuel filter. The residual pressure in the system would flow a small amount of fuel over a long period of time and give you just enough for the start-up. Much like you described.

If you have one tank, you have 2 pumps, 2 tanks 3 pumps. The one in the tank picks up fuel and brings it to the main pump.

Maybe the switch that changes the fuel over to the first tank is broken. The fuel line from the first tank may be blocked.
