I don't know, but when you find out, please let me know! lol
Seriously, make sure he has lots of chew toys and keep an eye on him at all times. When you can't watch him, put him in a crate or outside.
Good luck

We have a yellow lab, char pai mix and she chewed all the time until about five or six months ago. She was just two years old then. Your dog needs lots and lots and lots of chew toys and chewy snack-type things. Rawhide works as well as chewy bones for treats. You could also try a real, live bone (you can buy them in the pet section and they are roasted or flavored or whatever). The only thing about that is mine just chewed on it until all the flavor was gone and then left it be, so be careful about not paying too much until you are sure the dog will use them. Labs are chewy dogs and that's just a breed thing. You can only try to give them constructive things to chew. Also, you can remove the dog from any situation that they may chew on your things if you are not there to supervise. Our dog was crated while we were working until about a year ago. Sometimes now, even, if we are going to be gone for an extended part of the day, we crate her. She can't chew anything then. And I know my dog doesn't like to chew in her crate. If you give her a bone while she's in the crate, she won't touch it until she comes out so be prepared for that as well. Good luck and just try to be patient with your dog.

Assuming your dog is a puppy (less than 1 year old) is normal for him to want to chew on everything. Put your stuff away and for those things that need to remain out you can use several things like the bitter apple spray, very hot sauce or detergent in small amounts. Also, try giving him ice cubes. This is a great toy... inexpensive, helps with their gums and tooth, is fun because they have to keep chasing it so it keeps him occupied... only downside is the water left on the floor...

When you catch him chewing on your stuff, kick him in his balls. Just kidding, you can go to the drug store and buy a type of spray that you put on your belongings and it makes the dog not want to chew on them. Im not sure of the name but my bf got some from Walgreens and it worked. Just ask the store clerk, it will be in the pet isle

You know some dogs just can't stop chewing everything!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest you get him some of those never ending bones at super pets. He will have so much to chew he'll forget about chewing your stuff. Best wishes !

if you catch him in the act let him know that its bad to bite. Give him a toy to keep his attention off of biting other things.I read that if you play with him/her in the room where he is chewing stuff and let him know what he can and cannot chew on and he should figure that out himself if you keep signaling to him what is right and what is wrong.

To teach him "give it":

When you catch him chewing, hold out your hand and firmly but KINDLY say "GIVE!" if he does not give it than show him his favorite toy/treat, then when he drops the item to get the other one, give the other one to him and congradulate him.

You can work with him on this any time:

Drop something on the floor that is edible enough, but not very tasty, like a dry dog biscuit. When he takes it, show him his favorite food (we taught my dog this with hot dog bits). Say "Give" and when he gives it, give him the food and praise him.

When you catch him doing it, tell him firmly NO! Then give him something of his own to chew. If he is doing this while you are not there, contain him in a place that he can't chew on anything you don't want him to...

Have you tried raising your voice? Try also keeping things out of his reach and putting shoes in the closet. Also, try a product called "bitter apple" which you can purchase at any pet store...good luck to ya!

When you can't be with him to supervise, put him in a crate. He then won't be able to chew your stuff, or ever need emergency surgery to remove foreign objects blocking his intestines.

Crates save lives.
