Dan Brown says that Jesus was married because a man in Jesus' culture would be expected to marry.
I don't dispute that that's true (the part about culture).
Of course I dispute that Jesus was married
1. the only source to back this up is The Gospel of Phillip (written in Coptic and only traced back to the 2nd Century, not the 1st).
2. Jeremiah, also Jewish, was single
3. When Jesus returned to Nazareth the people there were "without honor" towards Jesus.
What are your thoughts on this?

the gospel of Mary Magdelene was not written by her, but in the 3rd century (maybe the 2nd at the earliest). BBC religion series on Mary Magdelene.
Leonardo Divinci may have believed it, but it doesn't make it true. He was not an eye witness.

As far as I am aware Dan Brown the author wrote a very average work of fiction based on stories which have been going around a fair few centuries. As far as I am aware Dan Brown the person has said no such thing, I might be wrong though.

Dan Brown's claims do not stand up under scrutiny. I don't know what surprises me more: the fact that so many people bought into this garbage or the fact that I'm not surprised anymore.
If people would actually read these sources that Brown claims prove Jesus was married, they will see that these are assumptions. The texts themselves don't say anything about Jesus' marital status. And the parts that speak of Mary & Jesus' relationship are fragmented. Here's an example from the so-called "Gospel of Phillip":
“and the companion of the … Mary Magdalene … more than … the disciples … kiss her … on her … the rest of the disciples … they said to him … why do you love her more than all of us?”
Wow...such clarity! Yeah...sure. **rolls eyes**
But, people eat this stuff up anyway. And they say Christians are anti-intellectual. Yeah...sure.
There's a good site that speaks on this issue that I'll post in the "sources" section. I really encourage anyone who isn't afraid to be confused by the facts to check it out.

If Jesus had been married, it would have been accounted for by all the Gospel Books. Why? Because there would have been nothing impure or unholy about Jesus taking a wife and have children. A married man and his wife engaging in sex and producing a child is not sin. Hello, that is what God wanted his creation to do, reproduce, he says it often.
So the fact that it is not mentioned in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, Hebrews or any other part of the New Testament tells me that it did not happen.
Jesus was a single man with out sin who was fully human and fully divine. He was a Rabbi with a mission and he accomplished his teaching and then fulfilled OT prophecy at the cross. He reigns in Heaven as King, Lord and Messiah and is coming back for his faithful soon!
Dan Brown is a man with Satan on his tongue. He lies or is blind to truth.

I'm resolving your question" Why do Islam religion want to force it on others? Other religions don't force theirs!? "
the verse u say it was in the beginning "there shall be no compulsion in religion",it wasn't in the first years of Islam it was after 15 years of the beginning of Islam and then there was a state in "Al-Madina" (AKA Medina)and this state as just won its first battle
so it wasn't trojan horse and the taxes that has been taken from Jews and Christians was the quarter of the roman tax on them and it was much less than the tax on Muslims(zakat) and it was for defense because when the Arab Christians entered the war with Muslims against Romans in battle of "AL-yarmok"(in modern day Jordan) the tax was canceled ,another proof on this is that the tax was only on men who can carry weapons and not on women, children or old men and it wasn't also taken from the disa bled people
at the end this guy is Ali bin Abbi-ta lib(ra)
in the end dan brown's claim is not true for sure

It wouldnt matter if Jesus was married or not, in my opinion... However it was not typical for a man to be married before the age of 30. Normally, people had betrowthed spouces, someone they were assigned to marry, very rarely were people married out of love. When males were old enough and strong enough to work, they would work for years until they were established enough to support a family. Not like today when people run away and get married and have nothing to live on. Jesus started His ministry at 30 and there is no record of any betrowthal. Mary and Joseph, having been told Jesus was to be the Messiah probably didnt set up a marriage for Him.

According to the Jewish Culture, for one to be a Rabbi he had to be married.... Jesus is called Rabbi in the New Test.
The Gospel of Phillip is not the only place he took info from. AND - if you go to the bookstore to find the Da Vinci Code... you'll find it in the fiction area. And Dan Brown is hardly the first to come up with this. Look for the book Holy Blood/Holy Grail.

Jesus was not married. If he was the Bible would have clearly stated that, and we don't even have a hint of a romantic relationship much less a marriage. Jesus purpose on earth was not to find a wife but to redeem sinners. Besides that Jesus is God and God would not marry a human. That's ridiculous. So I agree with you. All your points are valid.
Dan Brown is a good writer. But he is not a theologian. His book is great to take to the beach but should not be used as a basis for anthing regarding faith. I'm glad to see other people recognizing this as well.

Sorry to dis-agree with you. Revelation, not dan brown, says in Chapter 21, v. 9: Then one or the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me, and talked with me, saying, Come, I will show you the bride, the Lambs wife.
John was not allowed to identify the Lambs wife, so he described her in the most beautiful terms that humans could understand.
This is the Victory, and Reward of the Lamb.
He has taken, the many stripes of man, for chosing a woman, over a man.
Victory is mine, saith the Lord.

Dan Brown wrote a novel. Novels are fiction. Now if you want to look at the many books that do present it as theory (mostly where Dan Brown took his ideas from), that's another story. Why couldn't Jesus have been married? What difference would it have made? No one can prove anything either way. There is no physical historical evidence, it's all theory.
