As a child we were told by our parents that 'self-deception' was the biggest sin of them all and when asked if it was alright to deceive others, the response was, 'that too is self-deception'.Please tell me what you think...thank you...

Wow, it is a shame no one tried to seriously answer your question...

Anyway, there are no such thing as big sins or little sins. A sin is a sin in God's eyes and it is mortals that have put the labels of big and small on sins.

Think of it this way: when one is playing a game of darts the goal is to hit the bull's eye. If one throws the first dart and it is way over to the right, they missed the bull's eye and if the second dart is closer but still not in the center they missed the bull's eye. Sin (the darts) is the same way, either you please God (the bull's eye in this case) or you don't. God sees all sin on the same level.

So, yes, as awful as it sounds when Jugdement Day comes the murderer who has killed 15 without remorse will go to hell along side the married man who slept with 15 women without remorse.

But that is the beauty of Christ and his forgiveness. If one truely repents and is sorrowful for all their sins and accepts Christ as their Lord then all sins will be forgiven and now you will feel remorse and have a way (prayer asking for forgiveness through Christ, God's one and only Son) regarding future sins.

Christanity is not this difficult task. People seem to think that you have to jump through hoops or go through trials to prove your loyalty to God. You DON'T! As long as you pray (this can be done in the privatcy of your room. This DOES NOT require wittnesses!) To God that you know you are a sinner, but that you believe Christ is God's one and only Son and you believe that he died on the cross and rose again three days later. Accept Christ as your Lord and Savior then ask for God to forgive you of your sins. Say Amen and truly believe it in you heart and soul. THAT'S ALL! Nothing else is required to be saved! NOTHING! And if anyone tells you there is more to be done then they are lying.

Gosh, everything my parents seemed to find sinful was either sexual or musical in nature, I was never once lectured about self-deception....

The biggest sin could be that, if it means not accepting Jesus as Lord.

Who gets to choose what the biggest sin of all is? And on what basis is that decision made?

I didn't get to vote!!!!!!!!

Good question. Try not to be discouraged by disparaging answers by those who are but superficial in their understanding the depth of your question.
