It was Frenchman named Henri Cacquefortaneau. Since no one could pronounce his name, they shortened it to "caque." It was anglicized to "cake" in 1643 by a Calvinist minister who fed it to parishioners paying for "indulgences." At this time, the pastry was rather dry, so a libation was concocted to help it go down. Earlier historic reports say it was some kind of herbal tea made from a hemp plant, but this is inconclusive. The written documentation referencing this history is a strange mix of several tongues and dialects and has not been adequately interpreted.

Yes 'onecuteby' has it right , an old cave painting has recently been discovered depicting a guy named 'Ug' he is seen baking a Dino cake ! The actual recipe was also deciphered but no one has been able to make the actual cake yet, no Dino's! It is now believed that this could have been the reason for the instant demise of all the planets Dino's, the cake was so great that every one was into Dino hunting to bake one.
Hope this helps?
I must settle down now and take my little pill and go to bed!!!

I don't know who made it, but someone left it out in the rain. I don't think that you can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it.
And I really think you'll not have that recipe again ...
What a pity!

Betty Crocker's great great great great great great great great grandmother Pearl.
She was a cavewoman, and she called it "UGHMUFFOT".
And then her hips got big, and her cavehusband, Tony, invented the "UGHKINS Diet".
