I thought at first this was a 'reasonable' sort of question, until I read the rest of it. I can only assume you are referring to the little fairy tale about Judas ?
Have you read all the possibilities or possible reasons why Judas was supposed to have done what he did?
You can interpret the bible (both of them) to mean whatever you want them to mean, as remember the little tale Judas was a firm favorite of Jesus?
Maybe your question wasn't based on this tale?
A 'traitor' is simply a person who behaves disloyally, perhaps we have all been guilty of that at times? but esp' to country throws a different light on the subject doesn't it? Let us suppose a German during the last war didn't much like what the Nazis were up to, and informed the allies about these activities, he would be a traitor wouldn't he?
I am also intrigued by this 'most severe punishment in hell' bit!! Do people really still believe in all that stuff about a guy wh horns and a tail carrying a pronged fork??
Oh dear, time for bed!

perhaps actually being a traitor. Or even the traitor's "handler" the officer to whom he reports, who buys and sells people.
Is it a traitor to a political system? or somebody who befriends one, merely to betray him?
For some in america, the term traitor means anybody who disagrees with the rulers, I would imagine there are no countries in the world which have a fundamentally different set up.
In the book of John, Judas Iscariot was so eaten with guilt he hanged himself. Before Christ was hanged.
Jesus went willingly to His death, for love. Judas went willingly to the same condemnation, one of the worst for a Jew, to be hanged, and from living the knowledge that he had betrayed somebody he loved.
Both died for love.
For Hell to be worse for one than for another seems inconsistent. The Bible passages which refer to Hell say it is a place of unending torment. How would one unending torment thus be better than another.? For if one is worse, the other must be better.
But only God may judge, the rest of us are forbidden.

There are many things that are worse. It depends who you are a traitor to. Let's say you were involved in an assassin gang and wanted to be a better person. That wouldn't be bad at all. Even if you were to stab someone good in the back, as long as you're sorry, I don't see the problem.

1. There is no hell.
2. I plan on people calling me a traitor due to the uber-patriotism spurred by this presidency when I leave this country that he has made every other nation on earth hate.

Ask Alger Hiss. Oh, he's dead. Didn't Dante say there was a special level of hell for traitors?
