I'm 17 and i'm not overweight or anything, but I am totally out of shape. I want to be more in shape. I'd like an overall workout, legs abs, arms. generally, start getting in shape for bikini season. :) yes, its early, but if I start doing it now, then i can continue and just be in great shape.
My family has a weight lifting machine too, so.. suggestions please. I'm 5'8 and i weigh 125. I can't be spending too much time either, I have advanced classes in school, with lots of homework.
so can you help? ask more questions if you need to.:)
Also:
I am trying to GET IN SHAPE.
I am not trying to lose weight.
believe me, I probably eat more than you do.
so please don't tell me what i already know. thank you.

i posted this to a girl with a similar question.
try doing lunges for your thighs, crunches and sit ups for your stomach, and elevated push ups for your arms! those are the three "main" exercises i try to do everyday.
lunges and side lunges work the inner and outer muscles of your thighs, side ones work inner more. for more inner thigh exercise, try doing a ballet squat, by putting ur feet heel to heel and going down as far as you can without lifting or moving your feet.
pushups, easier ones than getting on the floor, use a desk or a table, and try that, or turn around and put ur hands on the desk behind you, that works!
crunches instead of situps, situps can be hard at times
lie on ur back, and keep your feet up 90 degrees to the floor, and just lift your shoulders off the floor-do several reps, works upper abs.
reverse crunches, swing your feet over your head for lower ab work out.
i totally understand what you mean, that is why i work out too.
these are just exercises i picked out of magazines and put together to make my own workout. just make sure you stretch before, or ull be really sore. also, start out with few reps...as u do them every day, u can do more.
try looking through magazines like cosmogirl and seventeen, they have different workouts every month, so just pick your fav moves and put them together!
hope this helps!!!

If you want a mind/body workout that REALLY works, check out www.t-tapp.com - she even has a "try before you buy" section where you can download some video clips and get an idea what you're in for. This workout requires nothing beyond a TV and VCR or DVD player and about 4 feet of space. T-Tapp focuses on inch loss, not weight loss - after all, models are hired by measurements, not by weight.
If you want a fun workout, I suggest Turbo Jam. It's a cardio kickboxing program - again, no special equipment required, but you'll need more room for this one. It's a little dancy, so if you don't like dancing, I'd look elsewhere.
Pilates is good, too......

Well if you're 17 then you're still in highschool im assuming.
If you can devote about 30min-1hour on fitness then try this.
Look in your school. Im sure it has a cross country team or atleast a track & field. Ask the cross country coach where you can get miles in.
Start out with 1/2 mile. When you get comforatable with that move up to a mile then 2 miles then 3 and such. Then set goals like 7/8 minute miles (yes it is possible, lots of people go alot faster) Run with music or with a buddy. You will get a great body for summer season.
Or start with your weight lifting machine. Start with little weights and slowly go bigger.
I wish you great luck!
