You may also want to read up on some of this so that you get a quality pup. Make sure the sire and Dam have OFA and CERF testing and passed. Don't automatically think the litters listed on AKC.org are reputable ones.

Go to www.akc.org & find the closest chapter of the breed's club - where you can find reputable breeders that screen & certify their dogs against hip dysplasia & other problems known to the breed. This is the best way to get a healthy, well-bred companion.

The place to go is to the National Lab club and go from there.
