I'll give a thumbs down to answers that are written in this way:

ALL CAPS
No punctuation
Rife with misspellings
Poor grammar

If it appears that the poster is using English as a second language I overlook it. But as far as I'm concerned it's inconsiderate when people don't take the time to craft their answers in a way that is easy to read/understand.

Gasp! Who told you?

Just kidding. No, I don't. That's just rude.

Then again, I hate it when people can't spell properly. It's irritating. There is even a spell check on here for crying out loud. What is this world coming to?

I don't thumbs-down poorly written answers usually. But, a lot of time time, I thumbs-down a question that is so hard to understand, I can't even answer it for them.

Sometimes I'll thumbs-down all caps because no one likes a yeller. lol

Under normal circumstances, if I thumbs-down an answer because of spelling or grammar, it's only because it's so incredibly god-awful that I can't understand what the answerer is trying to express. :P

Normally, I would not. However, if the answer is so badly put that I can't understand, I'll give it the shame it deserves.
