Okay, here's the info. I'm not fat, I'm average (5'3 1/4 and weighing 114 lbs), but I'd like to turn a little bit of flabby fat into muscle (it'll slim me down, too). I also don't need a diet, I am vegetarian, and if anyone suggests anorexia or bulemia I will so kill them. I just need some suggestions on a way of exersizing. What is the best exersize/ sport thing that will help me turn fat into muscle, isn't expensive, and won't kill me?
Thankies!!!

Really, the best you can do is the exercises you learned in gym class: jog, do sit-ups, do push-ups, do squats.
The most important thing is that you exercise regularly for at least 20 minutes a day. This will get your body into Healthy Mode. Not only will you gain muscle and lose weight, you'll gain lots of health benefits associated with regular exercise, such as good sleeping habits, improved energy and concentration, less disease, etc.
Swimming is the best exercise for using all your muscles. You should be able to find a pool that is open to the community for free. If not, a membership to a pool should be fairly cheap.
Aerobics are a nice at-home alternative that get your heartrate up and exercises lots of muscles. You can buy or rent some aerobics tapes, or find a TV program (best way to go because you'd tuen in 30 minutes daily) or download it free from the internet, like http://www.youtube.com . It's efficient, effective, and fun!
Again, free alternatives include jogging or jumprope (to get your heartrate up) and focused exercises like sit-ups to work on your abs, push-ups for your arms, etc.
Another fun thing to do is turn on your favorite music and DANCE!!!
BTW, since you're vegetarian, I strongly suggest that you ask a doctor or dietician about what foods you should make sure to eat now that you're getting lots of exercise. For one thing, if you're putting on muscle, you'll need protein, which most people get from meat but you'll need to get from nuts and seeds.

Lifting. As a vegetarian you are going to need to keep up your protein levels. If you don't you won't see the muscle growth you need to tone up. You will always look flabby because you are cannibalizing muscle to create energy/movement. This depends on the flab. Is it skin or fat. If it is skin - eat more protein and lift weights. Are you a Vegan? Non fat Dairy has actually been shown to improve fat loss rates.
If the flab is actually fat increase your cardio. A fun way is swimming laps. Skipping is great - believe it or not it is really tough. Squats really are the best all round exercise. On a leg press is safer. Lunges and plies with dumbbells or a straight bar is good as is doing them on a smith machine. Doing some upperbody weights as well. Make sure you break a sweat or you are not working hard enough. Also, your age has a lot to do with it. Drink lots of water and make sure you are getting enough nutrients - organic, olive oil, coconut oil, fish oil raw nuts and avocados are important sources for HDL and antioxidants. As a vegetarian you must know all this. Quinoa is another good protein source for Vs.

I'm 4'8'' and i weight 85 pounds and i wanted to tone my muscles too. I started the 40 30 30 diet plan (1300 calories a day) with a workout of an hour 3 days a week with a day of rest in between. Each day I worked different parts of my body for example:
Monday- triceps and biceps (15 sets)
Wednesday- legs and butt (15 sets)
Friday- shoulders and back (15 sets)
I noticed results in a week! My arms looked AWESOME hehehe really it worked. Oh and drinking LOTS of water helped too. If you need extra info about this email me dircex@yahoo.com. Trust me it works and u can eat whatever u want!

Well, I could suggest big, expensive equiptment, but of course, that takes time and costs money. So here are a few tips on getting more active:
Park your car futher away from your destination. this will make you walk.
Also, use the farthest away washroom in your house.
If you really want to get serious, try a treadmill. no treadmill? No Problem! Just run on the spot.
Just to let you know- You should get a fitness trainer if you really want to get serious.
PS- Working out is never a bad idea.

you don't actually NEED to slim down you need to build muscle and firm up you are very thin 4 your height. Muscle weights more then fat so you can even gain a little as long as your are building muscle the more muscle you get the more tone you'll look but you could gain weight. .

try doing lunges for your thighs, crunches and sit ups for your stomach, and elevated push ups for your arms! those are the three "main" exercises i try to do everyday.
lunges and side lunges work the inner and outer muscles of your thighs, side ones work inner more. for more inner thigh exercise, try doing a ballet squat, by putting ur feet heel to heel and going down as far as you can without lifting or moving your feet.
pushups, easier ones than getting on the floor, use a desk or a table, and try that, or turn around and put ur hands on the desk behind you, that works!
crunches instead of situps, situps can be hard at times
lie on ur back, and keep your feet up 90 degrees to the floor, and just lift your shoulders off the floor-do several reps, works upper abs.
reverse crunches, swing your feet over your head for lower ab work out.
i totally understand what you mean, that is why i work out too.
these are just exercises i picked out of magazines and put together to make my own workout. just make sure you stretch before, or ull be really sore. also, start out with few reps...as u do them every day, u can do more.
try looking through magazines like cosmogirl and seventeen, they have different workouts every month, so just pick your fav moves and put them together!
hope this helps!!!
