If your invitation said you and a guest, that means they are allowing you to bring one. If the invitation is for you only, that means they are expecting you alone. If you plan to bring a guest, you'd better check first. More guests = more money out of their pocket.

If the ceremony is to be held in a church as opposed to a private home or club, you and a guest are free to attend. As a church is a public place of worship, it is of course open to anyone.

As for the reception, you can bring someone along only if you've been told you are allowed to. If you haven't been, then it's rude to even ask.

You should have received an invitation that also had a r.s.v.p for attendance to the reception. You should have at that time informed them that you would or would not be bringing a guest.

It is appropriate if you received an invitation for you plus a guest, and if, when you RSVPed, you informed them there were 2 people coming. If you were invited with no guest, or if you only RSVPed for 1 person, no guest should be brought.

If the invitation says you and a guest then yes but if it only has your name on it and no guest part then no.

Read the invitation. If it says "..and guest" go ahead. If not, ask the respondent before you commit to bringing anyone.

Always ask first. Weddings are set up on a number basis for food and reserved seating. If your invitation says "plus one" then by all means, bring one.

Ask first. Because weddings usually have everything planned down to each person who goes.

If your invitation says "and guest" on it - Yes.
If your invitation does not say "and guest": - No.

It's that simple.
