wow listen to all the vets in here? Geez people settle down you are treating her like an animal abuser.
Anyhow, to answer your question, my dog will eat just about anything that hits the floor. I do try to limit what he gets, he just gets a little piece of cereal out of my bowl, or a little nib of cheese, not like PLATES full of human food like some of these other people seem to think. The funniest is if I drop a piece of lettuce. He goes right for it like it's something great, then spits it out because it has no flavor, and he keeps flipping it around the kitchen. I like to put down an empty tuna or chicken can too and let him chase that around for a few minutes. He likes to lick out the inside of my yogurt cup when I'm done too. He got a hold of a grape once too but spit that back out, once again I guess because it didn't have a flavor on the outside.

I have a dog in Vietnam that has always been fed on people foods since he was a puppy, and she is still healthy and smart at 15 years old now.. Almost everyone in Asia only feeds human foods to dogs since there are no dog foods in there. It's a myth that dogs can't evolve and digest human foods and that meaty human foods are less healthy for dogs than dog foods. You just need to cook it right for dogs, not to add seasonings, not too much salt, fat, sugar, or flavors, basically meat, rice, potatoes, fruits and veggies are good for dogs. Dog foods can have preservatives and other ingredients that cause cancer and hurt dogs health in the long term.

My vet (who is a judge in AKC shows and breeds his own champions, as well) says that human food is NEVER
good for dogs. They can develop a taste for it and end up refusing to eat regular dog food. This is bad because to get all the nutrients they need they would have to consume far too
many calories. far more than their small bodies need. The result would be severely overweigh and obese dogs. That triggers
many of the same diseases in dogs that overweight and obese humans are likely to get diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc.
In other words, a shortened life span.
The AKC has recognised this as a problem among dogs and often sets weight limits on breeds in their shows.
The best thing for a healthy dog in the long run is to feed your pet a good, nutritionally sound dog food.

My dog loves hot dogs. However she's not allowed to have them. Once in awhile my daughter will slip her one.. And then I'm stuck for two days with a sick dog. She has a sensitive stomach so she's never purposely fed a human grade food that I know will upset her tummy.
White turkey seems to be OK though. All things in moderation.

Human foods are fine for dogs. Many people feed their dogs raw or homecooked diets instead of commercial kibbles.
Dogs don't need veggies & fruits, however many like apples, pears, carrots, green beans, watermelon, cantalope, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries , raspberries, bananas, tomato, squash, pumpkin, sweet potato, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs

I think I would have to agree with some of the other answers here. Human food is not good for dogs and I just had my vet tell me this yesterday. I used to feed my dog human food all the time and he started to get seizures. Cheese is definitely not good because it plugs them up. Vegetables-I'm not sure. You wouldn't think it would hurt them. I know that I am sticking to dog food and dog treats only for the best health for my dog-but thats just me. You can do whatever you want.

Our dog loves cheese as well, and of all things, candy corn! I would never give it to her, but one time the bag dumped and she went crazy! I had to throw myself over the mess to stop her from eating it!

I'm pretty sure that you aren't supposed to be feeding your dog human food. Dogs will usually eat anything you put in front of them, but dog food is best. Your dog will gain weight and most likely end up getting sick...ie; heartworms. Stop doing that.

plain pasta
hot dogs (cut up)
popcorn
CHEERIOS with or without milk
cheese
carrots
peeled apples
eggs
ANYTHING that my husband slips him.
I know that there are replies that state human food is bad for dogs, but MY vet said all of the above, in moderation, will NOT hurt and the cereal is actually healthy for him.
