People want to be in the 'me, too' club...their neighbor or friend or brother got a Golden Retriever, so they get one, too. The top 25 breeds in AKC registrations will always by over-supplied by uninformed backyard breeders and money-hungry puppy mills, so the trends feed on themselves. Most people will never go to a dog show, or would bother to look at the AKC website before they get a dog.

Maybe now that the dog shows are getting more popular (The Thanksgiving Day Show always gets high viewing numbers) people will actually start to seek out less popular breeds...but nah, probably not. Pets stores & local classifieds don't have Clumber Spaniels or Salukis, so they would have to RESEARCH & do some of their own groundwork. What was I thinking?!?

We can dream.

Mustang - I shudder to think of the pet public out searching for Salukis. Good lord, the shelters would be full of them, they can barely handle their Shnoodles and cockapoos!

I am not one to criticize any ones spelling. I wouldn't be able to spell my own name if it wasn't on the tag. Sorry, I just had to say that.
