we feed our dog some in the morning and the larger part at night so she is never hungry

Feed her smaller but more frequent portions throughout the day. A dog I had when I was a kid had been abused and would eat her food so fast she would vomit so my Mom would just give her little bits of food throughout the day. She soon learned that the food would be there and we were able to fill up her bowl and she would eat when she was hungry.

Withhold her food until she calms down. She's acting that way because you let her. You are in control of her food and therefore her. Give her a command while your holding her food. Once she does it praise and offer her food. After awhile she'll automatically do the command when your feeding. A command like sit or lay would be appropriate. Of course they need to know these commands first. If they don't, please take them to an obedience school.

Make your dog sit calmly before you put the food down. and you can even take that farther, and put the food down and make the dog wait to eat until you say so. It works.

I don't think your dog is "freaking out"....your dog is just so happy to eat....this is normal...I find it actually very adorable

You should probably give it more food! You probably haven't been giving it enough!
