Actually it depends more on the bank that is a provider, some are reporting right away, some may take their sweet time. The quickest banks report as soon as they print a statement, the slowest could be as much as 2-3 months behind. But frankly, if you joined onto someones credit card, the true effect will probably bee seen after about 6-7 months. Even if it shows up on your credit report immediately, you need to accumulate some history before it's worth anything, so wait 6-7 months before counting on any positive effect.
The effect on your credit will be the same as the history on that card. If the owner of the card is late -- very bad, if the card is more than 35-50% full -- also bad. If the card is never paid late and is not filled to more than 35-50% of limit -- then Good.

It's pretty much the same for the principal card holders so it takes at least a full month. So once you have your authorized card, buy something (cheap) then pay for it later. You'll see that you'll have an active file in a month's time, assuming that they do report it to the 3 major credit card reporting agencies which I'm sure they do.

It depends on which of the 3 bureau you are talking about. Most reports pull either one of the three or a tri-merged report. It can generally take up to one quarter (financial) to get updated information regarding disputes and accounts being closed. But matters such as balances and monthly payments are update continuously. So it could take a week to 3 -4 months. And as far as being added to this person, it really depends on you personally. For some people it helps their credit to add a trade line to others it hurts it. It really depends on you, but if you pay on time and have no lates it certainly won't hurt you to much.
