you gain knowledge when you are wronged by someone, (nothing wrong with that knowledge) but in my opinion you should forget the being sinned against by them (as in not holding a grudge). some people bring it up again and again to batter you.

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:25-26 KJV HOLY BIBLE

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23 KJV HOLY BIBLE

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:9-15 KJV HOLY BIBLE

|| I have to forgive some people everyday. Let's say that someone does something against me that would require him or her to be forgiven. If I don't forgive them of their trespasses then I have trespassed God in that while I have been forgiven I forgave not. If I forgive not, then I am not forgiven. Unforgiven sin is sin that is not covered by the blood of Yeshua, Jesus Christ. If my sins aren't forgiven then I'm not in Christ Jesus. If I'm not in Christ Jesus I'm not saved. Forgive as the Word of God instructs us to do. If anyone has fallen into the sin of unforgiveness confess this sin and he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If you try to remove this sin in any way out side of the shed blood of Jesus Christ, that is called iniquity. Iniquity can and should also be put under the blood of Jesus Christ. ||

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:23 KJV HOLY BIBLE

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1st John 1:9 KJV HOLY BIBLE

Remember God is love! God had to repent because He created man. It must have hurt Him deeply when man kept failing Him. Yet He forgave man and gave His only begotten son in order that man would be saved. If we allow Him to soften our stony (hard) hearts then we will be able to forgive and forget. The flesh has a hard time letting go of hurt because it remembers or sees something that reminds it of the hurt. Hebrews chapter 5 tells us of the fruits of the Spirit and the works of the flesh. When we are hurt it becomes like an open sore. The more we pick at the scab the more it bleeds. So...if we allow it to heal there will only be a scare from it and eventually all is forgotten. The Lord said if we don't forgive others we won't be forgiven. To forgive is Godly!
I pray this will be an encouragement to you. You will remain in my prayers. A friend in Christ!

I don't want to forget. Depending on how serious the wrong was there are many times that we need to remember. Most of the time when someone has done something to make us distrust them it will likely happen again. I can sometimes understand a one time mistake or respect someone when they are trying to change thier life for the better. But I never forget. I am always somewhat suspicious. I have zero tolerance for those who have an ongoing history of lying, cheating, stealing and being dishonest and disrespectful.

Because things really hurt, when others do bad things to us. We have a built in sense of right and wrong, and of justice. To forgive is not to say it was ok. To forget, takes time. It all gets better with time. People just should be so much more careful about hurting others. If you deal with the pain as it happens, it will make it easier to forgive and forget. My best tip, that has helped the most, is to ask God to help you do those things. He has helped me before.

Because our pride stands in the way of forgiving others. Our pride tells us that we don't deserve to be abused or hurt, so we should hold a grudge. Humility is not easy. It takes a lot of strength to forgive others.

Because forgiving means that we have to let go of that control we weld over the other person. Not many of us like to do that, we like to use hurts as ammunition for future conflicts. But it is actually freeing when we do forgive, because we are restoring the relationship.

Forgiving can be easy. It is the forgetting that is a problem. People want to be right and they want justice. It is hard to just let it go and move on. But when they don't move on they are binding their enemy to them even more.

Because, only the brave people can 'forgive and forget', and there is very little percentage of brave people in the world.

I do believe everyone could forgive and forget.... up until to the point where they make mistakes themselves and the others cannot forgive and forget them for their mistakes. Do you think so?
