Did he have a hidden agenda?

Why do some men have woman who wait for them years while they are incarcerated only to decide when they get out that she's not the one? did they always have a hidden agenda?

Gee, because they couldn't meet other women when they were incarcerated & had that one lonely woman who would still communicate with them to brighten their existance, but when they get out they have a whole world of women?
