I thought that when we lit the unity candles, we might have the minister speak about how we want God to be a part of our union and let the miniter have a third candle. What do you think?

I love it! beause honestly, without GOD the marriage will fail. so it is safe to say he is a big, if not the biggest part of the marriage. GREAT idea!

I like the unity candle, but I think that traditionally the candles are lit when you enter already and they are already a symbol of God in the marriage. But, its your wedding, do what you like. I have often said that marriage is an agreement between two people and God and I think God would be willing to have 1, 2 or whatever number of candles at your ceremony. Congratulations.

The purpose of the Unity candles are to show that you and your fiance are becoming one...which is why you have a candle, your fiance has a candle, and then you both light the third one together.

Honestly, the use of unity candles is a little to Hallmark for me...do something different, like use sand instead. Get 2 smaller vases with 2 different colors of sand...instead of lighting one candle, you'll pour both sands into a larger vase. If you did something like that, you could definitely have the priest pour a 3rd color into the vase to symbolize your strong bond with God.

No, the unity candle is to unite the two families together. It is already spelled out clearly and well in the ceremony with special prayers, etc. - at least it was in ours with special readings and blessings - that it is truly a union of us as a couple with God being an integral part of our lives.

Though I've never before stumbled upon the concept of unity candles, i totally agree with the idea. I thoroughly believe that Christian couples should stay within their faith as they date, and that God and the bible's principles should be at the center of the relationship as you guys make decisions.
So the idea of the Unity candles is fantastic. What better way to show your commitment and adherence to God's plans for the lives of two of His blessed children, happily united through marriage.

Sound like a good idea. Traditionally, your parent would light one candle on the side of the unity candle and his parents would light the other side of the unity candle. Then the center candle is the candle that you and him would light together. It is 2007, people are alway changing idea for wedding . I KNOW I DID.

I were given married very last June and it change right into a backyard wedding ceremony. We had a sand ceremnoy interior a team spirit vase. You get 3 vases, one for you, one for him, and one for your team spirit. also, get 2 diverse colorings of sand, lower back, one for you and one for him. Then the minister will examine slightly saying about the ceremony and also you pour your sand mutually into the only vase. (The examining is something like, those grains of sand can in no way be seperated and turn lower back into one. you'll locate this on the internet.) besides, all of us loved it at my wedding ceremony because it change into differnet. it truly is likewise a superb souvenir instead of a used candle. wish this allows. I also like the idea above mine. Very unique.
