I am starting a diet in the next couple of days and I'm wondering what kind of workout can I do at home that will reduce stomach fat the quickest, the rest of my body is pretty fit, but I have a "spare tire" that won't go away. Any suggestions?

In all actuality doing ab work will only tighten/harden the muscles underneath the fat in your stomach. The only way to burn fat is exercises that are aerobic. Such as walk/run/jogging, cycling, lifting weights, etc. You have to burn off the fat....other than that you will have a nice rock hard abdominal section covered in a layer of fat. Also try eating 3-5 small (SMALL) meals per day... these keeps the body working constantly...constantly burning fat. As for the "quickest" try cycling (spinning) or or kick boxing...something to get the heart pumping.

You could do sit ups until the cows come home and it wont reduce your belly fat. Cardio, Cardio and more Cardio. Raise your heart rate. For home, get a stationary bike, rebounder, step, treadmill, or tape an aerobic workout. Or put on a great CD and do jumping jacks, skip rope and dance. Run up and walk down stairs when ever you can. If you hate aerobics do squats and lunges with weights. Regardless of what the plastic surgeons tell you (so that they get to do lipo and gastric banding and bypass surgeries) there were no fat people in prisoner of war camps. It will go away!

I seem to be skinny except in the area on my stomach it very annoying. I have found that running really helps, doing Pilate's, and either crunches or on an abs ball really help. The only thing is that you have to keep up with it or your belly will come right back. Remember to continue to work your whole body because everything will work for the stomach. Don't think about concentrating on one part of your body it doesn't quite work that way. I feel that running can help the most with the stomach but it is also good for your whole body and energy. I have been a member of a health club for 34 years.an instructor.for 3 years. manager for 2 years.Its a fact. the best and fastest way to lose weight especially around your stomach area is to ride a stationary bike.for an hour a day.I observed people. and the ones who rode the bike lost the weight the fastest.ride 15 minutes a day for 2 days. then half hour for 3 days. then an hour a day.set it in front of your TV and ride and watch TV.you MUST eat right. no sweets and white flour products. and eat mainly fruits and vegetables. and lean meat.This is the way to lose weight.get out a walk some also.Good Luck

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Here are some changes that you can incorporate into your life now that will take some weight off, and more importantly keep it off. Drink more water Don't drink any soda, even diet soda has a lot of sodium [salt] which will keep water in your body. Eat more fruits and veggies, less processed food and fatty meat. I am in the same boat. I bought an exercise ball which alleviates the trouble of doing crunches on the ground and a waist turntable you stand on and move side to side for your waist and abdomen. It seems to be helping.
Also walk around holding in your stomach muscles ....it will help strengthen them.
Don't forget with any exercise drink water and eat sensibly!! Good Luck.

With exercising you'll build muscles. To get rid of fat you have to get rid of toxins in you body . So do the cleansing and you will get rid of any fat.
