Every once in a while I get a little light headed, most of the time while I'm driving actually. And I sometimes get short of breath, and have to force myself to yawn in order to feel like I've got enough breath. When I lay down I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and it's hard for me to breathe a little bit. Not sure if it's related, but sometimes I get a sore feeling in the left side of my jaw, but I always thought it was just because I was chewing too much, haha. Anyway, do these things mean I have heart problems? Or could I just has anxiety issues that I'm mistaking for heart problems? Please help!

Cheezee, guessing and worrying won't fix it. Lightheaded, short of breath, heavy feeling on your chest, left jaw pain can indicate anything from anxiety to high blood pressure to pulmonary problems or infection to cardiac conditions; you really need to let your doctor or nurse practitioner give you a good checkup and listen to your breath and heart sounds in order to figure this one out.

It is interesting that it frequently happens while driving; make sure to mention this when you go for your appointment. Is your driving quite stressful, with lots of crazy motorists and heavy traffic? Anxiety is not something to just brush off, there are ways to reduce it and deal with it if this is indeed part of the problem. You may actually have several contributing problems, you know.

If it was your car acting up, you'd take it to a mechanic; and aren't' you so much more valuable than your car? Please go make an appointment. You don't want to end up being responsible for the traffic pile up that kills someones child!

best wishes,

What you're describing is associated with both anxiety and cardiac involvement to name two. The only way to sort it out is with a work up. See your primary care provider for further evaluation and if it's deemed necessary, you'll be referred to the appropriate specialist.

Are you over-worked or stressed? If so, it is probably anxiety. If you have too much caffine you may also have anxiety. If you are having these without the above two I mentioned, I would check it out with your doc, he can do blood work and a stress test to find out for ya! Good Luck

It definitely sounds like anxiety to me, but only a doctor would no for sure. I would take a doctor's advice over our advice considering it has to do with your health. Good luck.

If you do any hard drugs, STOP, and go see a cardiologist, get your family doctor to refer you to one.
