My dog is a very good dog, and he never chews anything so whenever i leave the house i dont lock him up..however, when i came home today i found he had chewed up some cedarwood, and apparently ate some because i found some puke-wood on the floor, now his stomach is repeatedly making strange noises..is cedar harmful to dogs?

Cedarwood attracts ticks, therefore, yes

I don't think Cedar is harmful to dogs. Dogs just have a natural puke mechanism when they eat big indigestible plants (ie grass, weeds or ... cedar).

If you dog usually does not chew on stuff, then maybe he/she was trying to find something to eat to induce vomiting. I know it is gross, but i had a dog who would eat something dead that she found, then eat a bunch of grass to make her sick intentionally. I would check to see if you dog ate something (other then cedar) that would make there stomach growl.

Good luck!

Except for the splinters it may cause, he shouldn't be in any danger of harm from it. However, wood is essentially fiber, and it is nearly impossibly to actually digest fiber, so, yes, he will sound a little weird until he can get it out of his system.

Chewing on cedar isn't necessarily bad, but if he SWALLOWED solid chunks that could also be SHARP, he could be in trouble. please go to the vet for x-rays - he could have wood slivers cutting him on the inside, OR have large pieces stuck in his digestive system that he won't be able to pass. GO NOW.
