Wow, This is a problem. Is there any way to return him?I know that is cruel to you, but it may save you sooo much trouble. I was shocked when I got an 8 weekold Rottweiler pup whose first act when coming into our house was to get on the foot stool and stare down the other 2 Rotties., and begin to bark. Now she is 5 1/2 monthes and 60 lbs of sleek muscle, and there has been a constant battle between her and the other very dominent Rottie. It has taken constant kind but firm supervision, and things are settling down. She had very kind treatment before we bought her and after. She is such a sweetheart, and fine with people, but is very protective of the house. This is more intense then the other Rotties I have owned the last 24 years. The young dog should not be acting this way unless you want a fighter. Please return the dog and get a more docile ,Pit Bull.I think it will only get worse.I have a friend with a lovely Pit Bull, with people, but she has to be careful around other dogs. These powerful breeds come with personalities genetically programed. Some things can be modified, but I don't know about bitting and growling in such a young dog. Some dogs are selectively bred for fighting, and perhaps your dog is one of them., even if the breeder had no idea about this one being one of them. I probably should not be answering such a question. What would Caesar say I wonder. Good luck, and be careful The rest of the litter may not be this way

Your puppy is teething at this age and will want to chew on anything and everything. As the owner of 3 pits, I can tell you to put an end to biting people NOW. Correct him by placing a chew toy (I recommend a rope as it will help massage gums and pull out loose teeth) in his mouth each time he bites you. Then say good dog and pat him. Negative reinforcement DOES NOT WORK with this breed. They want attention and priase, and are smart enough to learn that even negative attention is still attention. Keep tons of toys around and try not to scold. I would recommend getting him into a puppy socilization class ASAP as soon as he is done with shots, as this will also help him to be more fiendly and helps you to be an advocate for the breed by showing off you well trained and not scary pet. Good luck!

Yip real loud like a littermate would do if he played too rough. Then end the play session. That's how they learn boundaries. I would NEVER play tug of war with this breed either. And when you play, make sure when play time ends, that you end up with the toy. Puppy classes would be a great idea at this age.

This is a game for puppies, and if you don't stop it...they can turn into biters.
when puppies bite hands, feet, fingers etc...they think it is a game because you pull whatever they are biting at away...(yup, they are playing chase with your appendages)
There are many ways this can be taken care of, but this way worked best with all my dogs.
make it not fun for them anymore..don't pull away when they bit...push into it.
example, my dog puts my hand in her mouth, instead of pulling away, I pushe my hand into her mouth...(not hard, don't hurt the pup) but enough to make it uncomfortable...and hold it there until the dog pulls away and moves away from your hand..then, a little "good dog" and a simple pet provides reward for removing their teeth from you.
This bite inhibition trains dogs in a very kind way..and with pit bulls, it is a VERY good idea to have them bite inhibition trained from early on.

Squirt him in the face with water and looking him in the face with really mean look when he does it. Then give him a big hug. My little dog used to nip at me for quite a while. Not being mean, just too friendly. Especially at 8 weeks.

get your pit bull a kong. They have them at Petsmart & Target, that I know of.
Pit Bulls are one of those types of dogs that just love to bite and you can't supress it. You have to give them things to chew on.
Kong Toys are the BEST.

tap the dog very lightly on the nose, and tell it noooo. Also keep alot of toys around the house, this way it will keep his mind off of you. Another ideal buy some chew toys. Good Luck
