A tonne is about 2,000 pounds right? Does that mean I can only haul up to 1,000 pounds since its a "half tonne truck"?

I need to haul some 1,400 pound round bales and need to know if it can take it.

the F-100 is a light half ton. it will do it as long as you take it easy with it and don't try to drive across the U.S. with it. I've loaded a 73 F-100 with 2200 Lbs and took it easy for bout 150 miles without a problem. 77 F250 with 5000 on it. 96 F150 with 2400 on. took a K3500 with 3000 lbs on it and had to have the leafs re arched.

That is pretty good estimate. You probably will be able to haul the bales. It will be hard on the springs, shocks and axles. I wouldn't do it on a regular basis but a for a few you should be able to get away with it. Just check to make sure the suspension isn't bottomed after loading and take it easy taking off from stops and give yourself plenty of time to stop. Also your steering won't be the best with that much weight on the rear axle.

I've seen this done , and it looks scary , you won't be able to steer well and any bump will threaten to snap the springs , rent a trailer , safer and easier on those '80s ford " flexi frame " pickups but remember , you still have a 1/2 ton ( imperial not metric ) and your brakes will fade, good luck ,take your time , be safe
