Has anyone ever been bitten by a recluse or violin spider? I have a red-purple ping pong ball mark with blister in middle and whitish ring around it

2007-01-05 06:24:32 · 10 answers · asked by kim t 1 in Health General Health Care First Aid

I went to the hosp. they could not determine the insect thet bit me because I did not catch the spider. They drained the poison and started me on antibiotics. It id not as painful now but the Drs. are watching for necrosis as it has turned a dark purple. I go back today to drain mor poison. I have seen and killed brown recluse spiders in my home and yard.
Thank you all for advice and concern. Ill keep you posted.

Please see a health care professional about this bite. If it is as large as a ping pong ball and you are seeing purplish / reddish colors with white zones of clearing, you more than likely have been poisoned. Whether or not it was a brown recluse / violin spider is generally pretty irrelevant, as whatever bit you may be causing an allergic reaction.

Regardless, you are in danger of either having permanent scars, blood vessel damage, or nerve damage. Many natural poisons work by dissolving nerves, skin tissue, or bloodvessels. It would be difficult to diagnose by hearing you describe it over the Internet, and impossible to treat. A doctor would be the only source that can tell you with any certainty what has occured or possible antivenin treatment.

And as a final precaution, if you are feeling sleepy or having any nausea, do not go to sleep, do not lie down, and do not "rest" anywhere until you have contacted emergency services.

Did you see the spider? You need immediate physician care. THe brown recluse is a deadly spider from the standpoint that the venom destroys tissue down to and including the bone. It can also set up blood poisoning. Please get to an ER or your doctor immediately. The bite you describe sounds like the spider we are talking about.

You better go to the ER or doctor now. The brown rercluse has bitten you. The venom will spread and cause your flesh to die. Not cool. They'll cut out the yucky infected part and you'll have antbiotics to take. Just go before it gets too bad.
