I once felt that way bout a woman and thought I'd never recover, and suffered from depression for a long time. But I struggled through it and eventually met someone else.

The good news is you WILL get over it. Unfortunately the bit in the middle is painful !

Drugs and alcahol are NOT the answer (unless the doc prescribes them that is !)

The solution is to NOT to give up on life. There are amazing and wonderous things in the world out there you wont have seen (if you dont beleive me, borrow a David Attenboro or Michael palin video and see how wierd the world is !!) .

Practical short term advice: Try out something new - it doesnt matter what it is , as long as its novel and new and something you wouldnt normally try...

Examples :can you dance? no ? Try salsa dance lessons (personal experience - no matter how bad you are when you start, you do improve - and its very sexy ) !
OR...
Can you handglide? Parachute ? Paint ? Cook ? Sing ? Act ?
Ever been to somewhere exotic on holiday ?

If not, give it a try ...look in your local newspaper and see whats about - you'll be amazed at whats out there. And give it a try - you'll be making new friends, it helps with the depression (altho it doesnt cure it) and you never know you might just meet a new guy !

Whatever happens tho - DONT GIVE UP ON LIFE .

A friend of mine has a saying : The worlds amazing..and so are you !

Sometimes it helps to remember that.

Try to think of how they are now as opposed to what he once was. Big difference. You feel like this b/c you haven't had the time to process everything. Once you do, you will realize what's right. Don't think of what he can/can't provide, think of what it is you need in a relationship. I would rather be alone than to put myself through disappointment, time and time again.
