I think most of the time it's from a family that doesn't believe or should I say not fully follow all of God's commands and laws

BOTH ! I'm Seventh-Day Adventist and I come from a family that had no part of Religion. I went out and found what I thought was the best one that went strictly from the Bible. For that I'm thankful. If I would have been raised in a Religion I wouldn't have had the freedom to choose. I had no preconceived ideas before I found the Religion that I think is the right one.

I have some friends and they were raised in a strict family and Religion, they don't study or practise any right now, they are unbelievers.

Have a Blessed New Year!

Not offended at all... though with the majority claiming Christianity, I would say most came from a Believer family. Personally, I came from a mixed family. Mom is Christian and Dad is Agnostic. I'm Pagan.

I came from a believing family. When I got old enough I made up my own mind rather to believe or not. I am the only atheist in my family.

All the unbelievers came from the evil not from their families.

My own personal experience from people I know.
Non-believers had the following..... (all were from families of believers)
1) a bad experience w/ in the Roman Catholic Church
2) homosexuality
3) trying to leave the Jehova's Witness, or had left.

My family was Southern Baptist where no matter what you did, right or wrong, you were going to hell.

I no longer believe in any of it, but I'd say it's about half/half in my family. Half of the kids are still in the church and the other half are atheist or at least agnostic.

Jer 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

"unbelievers", which is used a lot around here, is the dumbest word i've ever heard. what christian whack job made that up? if anything, it's non-believers...."unbelievers"? idiots.

Besides, we are not "unbelievers", whatever the F* that is, we are athiests.

well i think that most atheists and agnostics came from a household that was either religious or just simply believed in a higher being and grew out of it as they got older anyway i'm agnostic
