Jesus wasnt about peace he said he didnt come to bring peace but to bring a swift sword, Christians are the most judgemental and ignorant people Ive met. Why dont they have the will to do the research on there own to discover the real truth and not what some pastor of a church has crammed into there heads so the can get there tithing money.

I truly think that people are programmed from early childhood in this culture to believe that questioning religion is taboo. And I think that they do not even realize it. Most people have no desire to research their religion. Although they may have doubts it is not as though they are going to take the time to read any critical analysis of the Bible, the viewpoint of anthropologists, or the historicity of Jesus. Nor will they read mythology to find the very concepts that they believe in are repeated ad nauseum in ancient myths. They do not have either the will or the interest. But on top of this, the promise of eternal life is very seductive. Most people cannot deal with the idea that life has a beginning and a succinct end.

A pastor didn't cram anything into my head. I read it on my own and come to the conclusion that while all my questions may not be answered, there was more to it than I could deny. Like others, you try to explain by fact, the words and phrases and then convey to the world that it can't be true. Therefore, in your mind, anyone who experiences, or learns anything different than you, must be wrong. If you look at the short life of Jesus' ministry, you will see that it was a life of servant hood and yes, He did promote love and peace. Try reading more than one verse, and let someone else help you understand what the scripture really says about Christ.

First of all great job of taking that verse out of context. Second I have studied Christianity and it is not false or truthless. Christians are encouraged to always go back to the source (Bible). We are not supposed to soak things up like sponges and just accept anything we hear.
Revdauphinee: Awesome! That's what I'm talking about! :-)

i really don't go to church, i am the church and i ask GOD into My heart and we are at church, he teaches me, not man or what man has written or says, you need no one to teach you about GOD he sends angels down and let you know things and you ask and he show you things,i don't think i would believe what some one else said, if i did not have theese experiences myself,I've had a fairly close relationship with him from childhood, but i still fall short of the glory and still a sinner but he is what he is and he is worthy of my belief and faith

Yow, see? You're buying into THEIR version of Jesus and his teachings. You look at his teachings and they're really obviously quite logical and more like Hinduism-type or Buddhist-type ethics and so forth... for the MOST part. They just TOOK the stuff and twisted it to fit their agenda... and the Catholic Church leads the pack.

taht is right Jesus did not come to make peace but to create it. He will rid the world of all who do not accept the truth. But Jesus is love, all you have to do is have faith that He is the only way to eternal salvation.

You want to be an anti-christ but you need to throw off the chains of Judeo-Christian mythology. There was no Jesus, the red sea did not part and Abraham did not spawn the tribes of Judea.
The easiest way to defeat Judeo-Christian mythology is to show it has no foundation in reality.

Well, Jesus used both peace and war as metaphors. He said "Turn the other cheek" also. You can't categorize him by one sentence.
Of course, i doubt he said anything that we read in the bible, his words were written 70 years after his death
