The Sun god's day is Sunday.
The Moon god's day is Monday.
Tyr's day is Tuesday.
Odin's day is Wednesday.
Thor's day is Thursday.
Frigga's day is Friday.
Saturn's day is Saturday. (OK, he's not Norse. He's a Roman God.)

If you could rename the days of the week to reflect life for the next thousand years, what would you choose for the seven days?

(Personally, I'm partial to secular names, but I'm not opposed to names drawn from the stars, biology, literature, physics, etc.)

TODAY! That way we won't get confused. Just think we could get rid of all the 364 1/2 days nonsense and people would be forced to live in the here and now!

But just for the record, not all the days were named for the Norse gods... Saturday was named for Saturn and Sunday remains a mystery.

Saturday: Saturday is the only day of the week to retain its Roman origin in English, named after the Roman god Saturn associated with the Titan Cronus, father of Zeus and many Olympians. Its original Anglo-Saxon rendering was Sæturnesdæg (pronounced [sæ.tur.nes.dæg] or [sæ.tur.nes.dæj]). In Latin it was Dies Saturni, "Day of Saturn"; compare: French Samedi. The Spanish and Portuguese Sábado, the Romanian Sâmbătă, and the Italian Sabato come from Sabbata Dies (Day of the Sabbath).

wednesday = sneezy
thursday = bashful
friday = happy
saturday = dopey
sunday = sleepy

:) couldn't think of anything intellectual, so i went for humor

I always thought Sunday was a holiday like mother's day except for sons.

I don't see any value in renaming the days of the week. It would be confusing and I'm not sure what purpose it would serve.

Why would we rename the days of the week. That's a waste of time.

Hey, you gotta fit Sick Puppyday somewhere in there! Dang, why don't we just add another day--say, fit it between Tyr'sday and Odin'sday, yuh?
