What is the difference between Great Britain and the UK! And also if GB/UK is a country than what is England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland, because I thought they were also countries within the UK/GB. Why do we have so many names for this little Island of ours??

I used to wonder about that myself. Great Britain is the main island which incldues Wales, Scotland and England. The nation of the United Kingdom encompasses those plus Northern Ireland.

Great Britain and the UK are the same thing. England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland were at one time all independant countries which have united to form the UK.

GB=England+Scotland+Wales
UK=GB+Northern Ireland

UK is actually a cluster of the above Islands which were once independant entities.

great britain and united kingdom are both the same...... and england, scotland and wales are individual countries but united together inone kingdom
