Do you feel like they have had the wool pulled over their eyes? Should one even bother with trying to help them to understand the errors in their circular logic?

Disdain more than pity. Reality is so close - they just have to open their minds a crack to start letting it in. We have to continue pounding them with reason because every once in a while a smart one, who is there only by reason of having been brainwashed, will see the light and be saved from a life of self-delusion. Keep up the good work bro.

No, some people need religion to get through life. Faith can restore someone's sense of worth and well being. As an atheist, I do not need religion to get me through life. But others do. So, no I do not feel sorry for them or feel like they have the wool pulled over their eyes. It's their right to believe as they wish.

I'm not an atheist, but I do feel sorry for some fundamentalists. I mean, they live in a world where everything is black and white, right or wrong, and almost everything has to be an issue. They never seem capable of just enjoying the beauty of life.

sometimes I do, but then I feel sorry for anyone who 1. cannot differentiate b/t an incomplete/incorrect understanding and knowledge, and 2. anyone who feels that simply quoting anyone/anything constitutes a position.

All too often religion serves as little more than a boogeyman and/or a means for those of limited intellect to intimidate others

As a pagan i actually experience happy for the atheists. collectively as they may well be lacking out on spirituality, they have on the least made an autonomous determination and stay existence totally on their very own words.

Not all of them. But I do feel sorry for those who believe in stuff like biblical innerancy, they are missing out on so much that life has to offer.

Sometimes, I do.

I also acknowledge the fact that, in some cases, the religion is what holds them together. And thats okay too - as long as you dont try telling me that I need your religion to hold me together...thats pathetic.

My goal is more to show them that they are wrong about science than about God.

I feel sorry for atheists, for letting the wool be pulled over their eyes. IF, the bible is true, it makes perfect sense what is happening to the atheists, and others. The bible predicted it would be this way. "Men will hate wisdom, and love foolishness, they will fall away from the truth. They will be tempted, and will fall away for it. Satan will rule the earth for a while, etc. etc".
Satan has pulled the same trick on them, he did on the angels that followed him out of heaven, and to Adam and Eve in the garden. He is masterful at it. I am surprised they just give in to it so easily. I share this not to put down, but to help shed light on what is going on behind the scenes. People honestly are being duped.

When they're nice and kind and just suffering from a delusion, I do. But when they bomb things or try to ban stem cell research and whatnot, it's hard to feel sympathy.

Their loss, not mine. One can only take responsibility for their own life and actions.
