Harry Potter has some wonderful life lessons, so what makes you think that you know God better than she does. You can't force people to God although most Christians feel they must. Christianity is a "freewill" religion, so why not let your mother have her freewill? You will not know if you or she is wrong until that final moment and I for one refuse to build a life based on other people's hunches. Imagine a world of people who are so wrapped up in their religious belief that they let the very world they live on be poisoned and striped and made unlivable because their religion provided a better "world" after death. Boy are your grandkids going to be lucky when you present them a world that they can't breath the air in, drink the water or see the beauty of nature!

I think your mom is funny. she knows that harry potter is fictional, and therefore, so is god. Which is the truth. The bible is a great group of stories told for generations.
She is old and wiser than you, and maybe the thought of some omnicent being watching over her, doesn't ease her mind, and doesn't make her feel better. Religion is not for everyone, and you can't force it on someone..so just let your MOTHER be what she wants, you aren't her parent..

Yes. Take her through the 10 Commandments and show her how sinful she is before a Holy God. Show her that if God judged her based on these Commandments that God would send her to Hell not allow her into Heaven. Tell her that Jesus died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for all of our sins and this was acceptable to God. Tell her that if she repents of her sins and trust Jesus to save her, God will and she will be born-again.
"Unless a man is born-again he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven." - John 3:3.

She admits to believing a book that the author states is a work of fiction! If she believes that then she is beyond gullible. And, I am a fan of the Harry Potter books.

The bible is as real as Harry Potter, a bunch of stories made up by people trying to force you to take on their beliefs.

If your mother is happy being an Atheist, leave her be. No one enjoys having religion forced upon them. If she wants to find religion, she'll do so on her own when she feels she's ready to. Trust me on this, I'm a Druid and I hate being told "You need to be saved." by some of the Christian extremists and fundamentalists I come across.
