Because many so-called Christians are ignorant of the origin of the cross (look up - Tammuz) and its pagan god significance. Just as they are ignorant of many things contained within the bible. They mainly just go with the flow even if its flowing off of a cliff.
Not to mention, would you wear a photo of a bullet ridden, dead soldier to remind you of his or her sacrifice? How about a decapitated soldier? How about a necklace portraying Lincoln's head being blown off? Why would you constantly display the murder of someone you claim to love? Duh, because everyone else is, duh-huh...
Tell you what, someone please show me anywhere in the bible where any christian or other servant of God (old testament) wore or suggested wearing a cross around their neck. I guess its near the same scripture that shows that Bill and Bob got married. Did the apostles wear these pagan symbols? How about those who came after them? If the answer is no then where do people today find the audacity to upgrade the teachings of the bible? Hey, lets burn crosses at night to really remind ourselves of the sacrifice AND lets wear hoods and sheets as a symbol of the shroud that his body was wrapped in. Yeah!
Do some research before following the crowd. I guess these people don't "love" him enough to research the cross. Too much effort. For all they know, the cross could be a symbol of Satan's 1000 year reign and those wearing the cross show their allegence to the devil and their belief that Satan can kill Jesus. Duh... that can't be......duh..someone would have told me by now uh..duh... I don't need to find out anything for myself...(drool). You haven't even asked your religious leader to show you any scripture suggesting that you wear the murder scene of Christ.

Did Leon Trotsky take the ice pick in payment of my sins? No..... if Jesus' death had no significant meaning, we wouldnt use crosses to symbolize Him, but the crucifixion was His main purpose.

When Jesus spoke of taking up your cross he meant suffering as he did for us. The cross is nothing but a roman death symbol a graven image. I guess people will start wearing hyperdermic needles and gas chambers and electric chairs around their necks soon.

Because they forget that idolatry is a sin and they apparently do not agree with the Scripture found at 2 CORINTHIANS which reminds all Christians-----"For we walk by faith, not by sight:"
As Christians, we do not need symbols to remind us of our faith. Did Jesus need a symbol to remind him of his faith?
If we read and study God's Word daily, apply it in our lives, pray incessantly, and assemble often with fellow believers, then that will be all the reminders we need.

It's a little easier than carrying around an empty tomb.
Then again, maybe they could just carry around an empty change purse.
Whenever they open it they could say, "See? Jesus isn't in there!"

I a Christian, and I clearly know why I have a cross necklace
You see....
That symbolization of Jesuses crucifixion and death symbolize his love for us. He loved us so much that even before we even existed he would go through all that pain and suffering for us. So we could go to heaven with the father when we die.
For before Christ the Israelites had to sacrifice offerings to the father (Jehovah) in order to clean themselves of their sins.
"for no one with sin can enter heaven."
Christ was a sacrifice for all of man kinds sins.
so that we may enter heaven.
Wearing that symbol reminds us of what Jesus did for us on Calvary; he died and stole the keys of hell from satan and rose again.
(Now allowing anyone to enter heaven if they only believe in him
believe that he is God's son and that he rose from the dead and died for all of your sins.)
"For God's so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
(Note: If Christ did not rise from the dead then I can see why people would say that it is a rather vulgar symbol, but he did!)
(I don't need scientific proof of his rising I know in my heart that it is true!)
