tyhis religion i cannot fathom, how come if their child is lying dying in a pool of blood they will refuse to have blood administered to save it, because it says in the bible man shall not indulge in the blood of man? does this not just mean man shall not consume/eat/drink flesh or blood of another man? is it not a case or read and take waht you want from it ? well it also says jesus christ gave his blood to save us and god created us in hi image so is it not a fitting tribute fro us to follow in our makers footsteps and do unto others as they do unto us? any view? would like to hear from the jehovas witness community to further my knowledge

i think this old tale that a dcotor telling some one to abstain from alcohol is it then acceptable for him to inject it is a bit over used is it not. is this all you have to defend your decision not to use blood and ive heard enough about the so called hospital work helped by jahovas witnesses to avoid using blood simple fact is you refuse to use it and you's cant even agree as a religion on this i think you's need to club together and sort it out. the bible says not to eat any thing with the life in it the blood in its viens, i believe a more true understanding is that we are not permitted to eat anything alive .. it must be dead first, im sick of so called spawned religions jumping on the back of christianity andcutting their own version when infact all they are is a rip of of the christain faith not as its known now but of the early faith so go get ytour own religion and give it a break fro you's can assume yous are right all day long simple fact is put 4 people in a roonm and startle them with some incident or other and guess wot every one will come up with a different account on what happened, its human nature and guess wot ??? were all human!!!! as for the blood issue i wouldnt eat like a canibal nore would i eat any animal while it is alive but i will give and take blood because yes it is a gift of life or rather not as you jahova's see it, because sure you dnt need it to sustain life saline will do the trick lmao..... we only need a transport mechanism to deliver the oxygen / nitrogen around the body but what do i know im no biologist nor am i a jahovas witness, so il make with the blood you's tear on with the substitutes, jesus gave his blood for me so il gladly give it for my fello man/woman to save them if i can
all life is sacred ...the question was why do jahovas witnesses not use blood not what can be done to avoid using blood so once and for all decide do you's use blood or not!!!! a simple question requiring a simple answer. why dosent people look at the exact wording in their bibles and make the decision and not just say what they are told, remember we have free will!!!! and excuse my speeling , spell checker will not work at this time... ps if a man told you not to get on the bus in the morning because it was going to crash and you would die oh but also you couldnt see his face because it was just a voice in a crowd would you believe him and not get the bus????? think this has more in common than the alcohol injection parabal

Disfellowshipped JW
1982 Corning, CA Congregation
For cause, but not the ones some ex-JWs who want to put themselves on a pedestal, want you to believe, and know you will without question.

I still don't take a blood transfusion. Why, because it is not safe, and getting worse every day. Less than 10% of those who refuse blood claim to be witnesses. There are now 15 bloodless hospitals in the country and UCLA in California now does bloodless transplants.

In Britain, anyone under the age of 18 is not to be given locally donated blood, and adults are informed that the supply may be contaminated with Mad Cow disease. Got that during a conference on blood transfusion held here in Kansas City last May.

Why do you think the Bible began teaching against the practice of incest? Do you think it was because they understood how DNA worked? Do you think that did research studies over a broad area, to determining that birth defects were higher in these cases. That would have been a little hard, as people didn't have babies until the were around 100 years of age.

Only as technology has advanced have we understood why incest is dangerous to reproductive health. Now we are seeing the problems related to blood transfusions. Don't you even wonder why at the peak use of blood transfusions in our society that AIDS emerged? Don't you ever wonder why the very rare diseases that you can catch after a blood transfusion are the same as what one gets with AIDS?

You should take the time to better understand the problems with blood transfusions. As for allowing children to die, no parent wants a child to die, but when it comes to medical treatment, it is a decision that is up to the parents. Also, only people who have so little faith to not believe there is nothing beyond death, worries about these things. You may lose your child now, but you will see them later, on a paradise Earth.

I'm not a JW, but I asked them the same question. I was told that no matter how it gets into your body, that it is taking it into your body. They aslo told me that you can have (If I remember this part right) just saline solution....theres a liquid your supposed to be able to have to help untill your own blood builds back up. And I also think something like plasma is in it, that that is the important part of blood anyway. Thats just what I was told. I hope I got this right on what they said. Its been a couple of years since I talked to them.

For those who say abstaining from blood doesn't mean "transfusions"

My Alcoholic friends will be glad to know this.

I'm sure their doctors won't mind them taking in alcohol by transfusion instead of drinking it.

My nephew will be sorry to hear that transfusions aren't eating, He has been unable to eat for 4 weeks now while his stomach is repairing itself.

I guess those transfusions of nutrients won't keep him alive.

No Jehovah's Witness wants to be a martyr, nor do they want to make a martyr of their children.

We go to doctors to get well, not to die.

We do reserve the right to make informed decisions about what medical proceedures we will or will not accept.

I've met severl people in the hospital claiming to be a JW because they did not want to have risks associated with blood transfutions.

I can assure you there are more people who have died from blood transfutions than those who didn't receive them.

It has been said life has no meaning unless you are willing to die for something.

What are you willing to die for? Your family, Your country, your God?

If you die for your country, you are a hero,

If you die for God, you are a fanatic.

Who deserves greater love your country or your God?

Jehovah has the power to overcome any death that happens, can your country make the same promise?

Love for God means obiedience, not to just the laws you want or agree with.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not want their children to die, and their are many things that can be done to build up the blood in lieu of a blood transfusion. Many doctors like doing bloodless surgery. They are more careful and do a better job. It has made them become better surgerns.

The reason Jehovah's Witnesses to do not take blood is:

Blood is very sacred to God. As you said it is the pouring out of Jesus blood that give us forgiveness of sins.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not take blood transfusion because the bible tells us to "abstain from blood". Acts 15:28 & 29 "The holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from things sacrified to idols and from blood and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you."

The Israelites were also total to not eat blood at Leve. 17: 11, 12.

The early christains abstained from blood. Tertullian (160-230 c.e.) wrote "Let your unnatural ways blush before the Christians. We do not even have the blood of animals at our meals, for these consist of oridinary food. ..At the trials of Christians you (pagan Romans) offer them sausages filled with blood. You ar convinced , of course, that the very thing with which yo try to make them deviate from the right way is unlawful for them. How is it that, when you are confident that they will shudder at the blood of an animal, you believe they will pant eagerly after human blood?"

Minucius Felix (third century c.e.) "So much do we shrink from human blood, that we do not use the blood even of eatable animals in our food."

Is blood transfusions eating blood?

Example, how is someone feed in the hospital if they cannot eat on their own? Isn't it thru their veins? If a doctor told an alcoholic to stop drinking alcohol and he took it in his veins instead, would that be any different?

Jehovah's Witnesses accept most all other forms of medical treatment other than blood transfusions. It is very, very rare that a Jehovah's Witnesses dies and it is blamed on not taking blood. Many have been told they would die and have made a complete recovery without blood.

hey you,
i understand that for people who don't know much about JWs this sounds very rigid and even risky. I'm JW and a medical nurse and I know once a serious bleeding started its often too late even if the patient receives blood, or if it saves his life there r enough risks about unwanted body reactions. PLus there are many alternatives to blood transfusions. No JW would ever want to see their child dying, no we would do EVERYTHING to get our lifes saved besides accepting a blood transfusion as the bible clearly indicated gods will about what blood is and what not. Actually that is a misunderstanding, it is NOT up the individual if they want to accept blood or not. JW do not under any circumstances accept whole blood.

Nic2005 said it all! :)

It's just another silly, made-up American sect. I know, I was dragged up in it, forced to go to the Kingdom Hall three times a week. They change their theology completely every couple of decades as their stupid end of the world prophesies pass unfulfilled, then go deeper in denial than an Egyptian scuba diver when you point this out to them!
And they are hypocrites - for decades they said the United Nations was an evil organistation , equating it with the 'abomination' of reveleation, when all the time they were an affiliated organisation and claiming all sorts of UN benefits!

Taking isolated bible quotes and building whole belief systems around them is what they excel at. In that, of course, they are not at all alone!
