I would probably start a conversation while bringing out the trash or something, if you met anyone outside... and say how long have you lived here, we just moved in as I'm sure you know, or can u tell me some good places for take out, or great things to do around here...

Baked goods are always a good way. I would not suggest getting there mail for them, mail is to personal and some ppl might take offense to that. I don't know if I would be happy with the new neighbor in my mail box.. lol.
Your always more then welcome to walk up knock on the door say Hey we are new to the neighborhood we just moved in at XXX and thought we would stop on over and introduce ourselves.
They will accept you warmly as long as you introduce yourself warmly! I think its great you want to introduce yourself so many ppl now a days just want to hide and never know the neighbors.

If you are a socialable person you could have a "Meet & Greet Party", believe it or not before we moved in our neighborhood and had our party there were people who lived there for years and still didn't know each other.
Some would say wait for your neighbors to introduce themselves - but that may never happen.
Set a good tone for your new home.

Have a "Introducing myself to the neighbors Party" Make up a flyer with the time and date and location of your new home, A short bio about your family and put something about how you are excited to move in to the neighborhood. Make sure you have plenty of food and snacks. Drop the flyers in everyone on your streets mailbox.
Good Luck
Hope it works out for you.

I once had a neighbor that walked over to everyone's house, introduced themselves and invited us to a BBQ that weekend. It was pretty cool we actually got to meet some neighbors for the first time. And of course almost everyone bought a house warming gift (a lot of wine and house plants). I think it's great that you want to do something.
PS. Have your rock band play at the BBQ. ; )

I only met the neighbors after moving into this house by one of them dropping off a flyer for a neighborhood potluck. It was a blast!
Also, we've had some yard sales, and the neighbors always come over to chit-chat now.

I went around to all my neighbors and gave them my cell phone number and told them if they saw criminal activity or had an emergency to not hesitate to call me . I introduced myself and
got their info also. It helps to know your neighbors in these days and times my friend

They should be the ones coming to you to introduce themselves. If they don't, once you get settled, bake some cookies or brownines, and go knocking (or "Head Banging") on their doors

I would not hesitate to go door to door, perhaps even with a small plate of cookies, and perhaps some earplugs... (lol)
