Sea salt is evaporated sea water which also contains impurities dervived from the sea water... while salt is just purified plain ol' Sodium Chloride coming from a variety of sources, including the sea.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, Leslie Salt makes table salt from the bay water. Yes, they don't market it as "sea" salt.
Sea salt is just a marketing gimmick.
Why aren't more people curious why their sea salt gray or different colors? Maybe they just don't want to know.

Benefits
People with Weak Adrenals
· "People with weak adrenals lose sodium and need to eat more natural salt.
· This is easily observed on a hair mineral analysis that is not washed at the laboratory.
· The sodium and chloride levels on a serum test are not a reliable indicator, in my experience, because the body keeps them fairly even no matter what."
Dr. Joseph Mercola: Are You Eating Too Much Salt?
"Too much salt also exhausts the adrenals and causes a loss of potassium, leading to lower blood sugar."
Pathlights: The Natural Remedies Encyclopedia : Section 11, Endocrine: Part 2, Adrenals
Minerals
"The benefit from salt comes from the minerals it supplies, especially trace minerals, this is why sea salt must be used.
I have read that the mineral content of sea salt closely approximates that of human blood."
CureZone.com: Water Cure Forum: Is Sea Salt an integral part of the water cure?
Hypotension, Blood Pressure
"Consuming a diet higher in salt will sometimes help restore a more normal blood pressure. One of the most common - and treatable - problems identified in those with NMH (Neurally Mediated Hypotension) is a low dietary salt (sodium) intake. Salt helps us retain fluid in the blood vessels, and helps maintain a healthy blood pressure."

Chemically there is very little differnce. Sea Salt comes from evaporating water from the salt and table salt is mined from under ground and has added perservatives to keep it from sticking together. For cooking puporses Sea Salt is courser than table salt and is also slightly more expensive.

Actually both types of salt are really the same. Salt was laid down in the sea - it's a sedimentary rock. It can be mined on the land (or underground) but it got there because at one time that area was under the sea - where it got deposited.
The salt you put on your dinner has just been refined to take out the impurities.

Sea salt, a salt obtained by evaporating seawater, is used in cooking and cosmetics. Its mineral content gives it a different taste from table salt, which is usually sodium chloride refined from mined rock salt (halite), or refined from sea salt. Table salt may contain anticaking agents and additives such as the dietary supplement iodides.

Salt is generally mined from the ground, purified and sold whereas sea salt is obtained by evaporating ocean water and capturing the salt residue.
