Hmm, although I can't tell if your question is particularly serious, I will give a serious answer. To the best of my knowledge it has not been confirmed one way or another whether or not Lucy Harris even destroyed the first 116 pages. If you attend the Martin Harris pageant in Clarkston, Idaho, which is called "The Man Who Knew" and which was written by former Institute teacher Rhett James, I believe he actually has a disclaimer that what he includes with a scene of Lucy mishandling or destroying the 116 pages is more of a possibility of what happened. It's been several years since I saw the pageant, but I did see Rhett James about a year ago at a church meeting in a Salt Lake hospital where my dad was recovering from a stroke. Here is a link below if you would like to actually obtain a copy of his script. Again, it has not been proved one way or another what happened to the original 116 pages. Have a happy day.

.On the serious side you have some good answers here already (and a few bad ones). but it's true that we don't know if those pages we're lost or destroyed. it's all true about martin's wife pressuring martin to see some proof since he was the scribe and would come home to tell her what he had written so far.

But to help answer your question more specifically; like it was already stated, he was ordered not to re-translate the pages that were lost. Not only that, Joseph lost the ability to translate for a while since he went against gods will. But he eventually was given the opportunity to start where he had left off.

Martin was "fired" for being the scribe, and begin a deep depression. because of what he and his wife had done. eventually he had to choose between his wife and Joesph Smith. Harris and his wife separated.

Burning wouldn't have been so bad as what she was really plotting - to take those translated manuscripts and get a forger to alter them enough so when Joseph Smith translated those pages again they would be different and she could make him look like a fraud.

Anyway, when Joseph Smith learned of this plot, the Lord did Chastise him for letting those pages go, and then instructed him not to even retranslate those pages, and just leave them out - so to this day there are 116 pages that aren't in the Book of Mormon which originally would have been.

hahaha, i don't know if you're trying to be funny, but that is false.

See, Martin Harris was a scribe for Joseph Smith while translating the plates. Martin Harris wanted to show them to his wife, because she was giving him a hard time about it. For a space of time, Joseph was forbidden to show the plates to anyone, including the pages being translated. Although Joseph was forbidden twice to allow Martin to show them, he finally consented, only if Martin would bring them back soon. Well, as it turns out, Martin Harris LOST the pages. We don't know where they are, but we know that they were DEFINITELY in the wrong hands. I'm pretty sure everyone was upset by this--well, those who believed in it.

After the Book of Mormon was completely translated, Joseph Smith allowed special witnesses to look at the plates. If you ever get a copy of a Book of Mormon yourself, there testimony of the plates are all there.

I'm pretty sure that's not the answer you're looking for, but according to the fact that I've been Mormon all my life, and I regularly take a Seminary class, I know this to be true. I don't mind if you think it's not true, but it is true.

According to the church:

The book of Lehi was burned because Emma Smith, Joseph's wife, showed them to someone who planned to alter them. Joseph was told that the book was not to be included in the Book of Mormon anymore. No, Anger Moroni would not have been angered since it was God's will.

Who is Lucy Harris and why should anyone care if someone burned the first 116 pages of any religious book? My only question is why did she stop burning after 116 pages? Did she run out of matches?
