Carefully write the make and model and Serial # and caliber of the pistol down, and take it to your local Police Department, and tell them of your concerns. They can use NCIC to check on the gun.

Call you local law enforcement agency and give them the information, serial number and all other info. If it does come back that it was stolen or even used for a crime just to be safe take the loss and turn the gun in immediately. You would not want to be involved with a gun with bad history and then be investigated as if you were maybe involved with whatever bad history comes back. Be safe :O)

call your local law enforcement agency, if the gun is stolen they will take it from you , that would be better than not knowing and later be found with the stolen gun and arrested, or if you sale the gun and the buyer gets caught with it, it will be traced back to you through the interview of the person the gun was caught with, best bet is to ask a local police officer

The easies way to determine if it is/was stolen (and possibly used in a crime),is to take it to a police station and let them run it through their system. If you are near a large metro area like NYC or Miami they may even have access to the FBI database which would give you the most thorough search.

Best bet is to find someone at a pawn shop that can run it for you
