Stick with the name brands for LCD TVs is what I would recommend. I understand that LG is making some pretty good LCDs at the moment.

We bought a Toshiba 37" for the family room and the picture quality is great. Our only problem with the TV are that the quality of the sound was really bad. It was so bad that we thought we had a blown speaker and called in the service technician. He said that we should not expect a lot from the internal speakers on these TVs and recommended we use our stereo system for the sounds!! After spending over $2000 that was not the answer I was looking for.

Nevertheless he opened up the case and added some foam to the plastic case so it would be less likely to vibrate around the speaker when the TruBass was turned on.

The other issue with the model we chose was that it does not automatically detect if the picture is widescreen or fullscreen, so you have to sometime press the Picture Size button to get it right.

Check out the ratings in Consumer Reports or on their website. They offer some good insight on the various features, and tell you which ones they rated high.

Acoustic Solutions are near the bottom end of the list for quality and reliability. Their products are cheap for a reason - they use cheap, poor quality components and you will see this the first time you turn the TV on. You will then be constantly taking back to the shop for repair. If you really want to enjoy your X-Box and your movies, spend a bit more cash for something decent.
