God created us in his image. When he placed Adam, and later Eve, into the Garden of Eden they were both nude. It wasn't until after they were tempted by the devil that they began to feel shame for being naked. The shame was not an act of God, it was caused by the free will that he gave us. That said, it is up to you to use your free will to decide how you feel about nudity.
If you want further clairification about Christian feelings toward nudity, look no farther than the Vatican. For example, the Sisteen Chapel is covered in nude figures and is regarded among the best art ever created.
Nudity in itself is not a sin. When nudity leads to lust or other imoralities then it becomes a sin. I am a Catholic and a nudist. I enjoy going to nude beches and spending time with friends who are also nude. There is nothing sexual about what we do and it is not arousing in any way, we just don't have clothes on.
Although I have never taken a nude art class, I have friends who have both posed and drawn nudes. They all say that there is nothing arousing about it and the one who has posed states, very adamently, that there is NOTHING arousing about being the only person naked and on display in a cold room with cinderblock walls.

From an Orthodox perspective - it would be unwise to do so because regardless if you are posing for pornography or not there is still the chance that someone may be aroused by your nude presence. If you are a practicing Christian you will no doubt understand the necessity for Christ's disciples to always act above reproach. If you were married it would be an even more serious transgression as it would be teetering on the border of adultery.
Further, with respect to your own private spirituality and life - do you feel it's inappropriate to not dress modestly? Do you really feel the need to expose your body to strangers?
Also from a mundane secular perspective, these types of indiscretions can result in bigger problems later (see Miss USA and Miss Nevada) later.

You will have people who say yes, and others who say no, and both will have reasons for what they tell you. If you can pick the flawless human out of the bunch to believe, well, you're wiser than anyone else. =)
Frankly, YOU need to be the one to answer this for yourself. You've obviously read the bible. It doesn't say anything about posing for art, so you need to do some interpretation and critical thinking. That is more likely to give you the answer you need than any stranger on the internet.
And just so I've actually answered, I don't think there is anything sinful about it. There is no prurient intent or self-gratification. It is not a selfish act. It is certainly not fornication or adultery. If anything it is a bit immodest, but again, if your intentions are not selfish, then I don't think there's any reason to believe it's a sin.

No biblical references to offer, but I don't think it's a sin to pose nude for a legitimate art class. Like you said, Playboy is a different case. Have fun. Enjoy your body. If it looks good enough that they asked you to pose====flaunt it!! Not everybody is blessed with a good body and you won't be in the same shape forvever--why not have something you can look back on and show your children. Appreciate the human form---after all we were made in His image.

The human body is not a sin, neither is studying it artistically, it turns into a sin when we begin to worship it, taking the worship away from God. I cannot quote you direct bible verses but all sin is based in greed, when we do things that we think are better for us than God does. We are wonderfully and fearfully made by God, so studying his creation is not a sin, nor is the person being studied sinning. My advice to you is to take it to God, ask him to help you with this decision, hope this has been helpful.

Sin is any act against The Word and Will of God...The primary component of nude art is arousel... regardless of any other "artistic" component. All art is, in some way, a stimulant to some form of arousel... nudity is for sexual arousel... For one of The Christian Faith it would be a difficult decision...and in most every case it would be gest for a Christian to not ingage in that knd of "art".... but Nudity it's self is not a sin... it is the motivation of the nudity, if it is to stimulate other acts, that would, in my opinion, make it a sin... when in doubt about sin or not... don't do it

Sin introduced lust, immorality, and perversion into the human race. As a result, we can no longer look at a nude person of the opposite sex in a pure manner. God made clothing for Adam and Eve to resolve this problem (Genesis 3:21). If God approved of nakedness, He would have simply told them that being naked was okay, and they did not need to feel embarrassed or ashamed. The fact that God clothed Adam and Eve indicates that God expects us to be clothed.

Strict Catholic here.
I don't think it's a sin for the purpose of class. If you feel uncomfortable, talk to your teacher. If you are worried that it might lead you to sin, talk to your teacher and see if you can't do something different. It's up to you, and what you feel. For art, it is ok because you are not trying to arouse or be aroused. Your comfort level should be concidered here.

Some of the most wonderful art are mostly nude in the Middle Ages. Michaelangelo is my favourite artist and most of his stuff is nude. There's much beauty in nude art...go for it!

no, if you see it as art and not lustful.Lust causes sin... My son is an artist, he had to draw a nude. he showed me the pictures as well. I do not see that it is a sin if viewed as art.
