I have some heavy, quality furniture to sell: a oak dining table with matching chairs and an Ethan Allen cherry sleigh bed. If I list them with ebay or a similar on-line place, I'd have to include a sizeable shipping fee. Would it be better to put an ad on craigs list or the local newspaper or where? thanks ; )

Craig's list is great since you can zero in on local people and arrange for pick up and you would not have to worry about the hefty shipping charges. be careful, you have to keep up on your posting, do it daily or else it won't be right there for people to see and then they would have to search for it specifically and it is harder for the buyer to find. renew it daily, it's free. include lots of pictures.

It will probably be easier for you to list it on craigslist since you can list it in the some state that you live in then you can note on there that who ever is interested in buying it has to make their own pickup arrangements. You can also list it on backpage.com, it works the same as craigslist.

Hope this helps!
