While having idle time and sorting through my desk I came upon an updated version of Windows XP and thought this would be good to update the system-however after doing this I found that I had lost everything on the computer (My documents which contained mant pertainent letters, lists and even a book I was writing are gone- what, if anything can be done to retrieve this info?

take the computer to a prefessal computer repair place they may be able to pull the files off the hard dive but usually when u install windows it formats the diver but some times you can recover stuff perfessoinaly

May be you can try what my friend did. He went to www.recovermyfiles.com, downloaded the software and got back all his old data. He also had his computer reformated after a virus attack and lost all his data. I save my data onto my flash drive to avoid that from happening to me..

You will need to employ professional data recovery specialists to restore data from a formatted drive - and it will be very very expensive.

no. SSDs are so speedy already having quicker ones doesnt make extensive ameliorations. Samsung is a depended on company that makes use of extremely intense end factors. in my view i could pass samsung over needed.

When you install an operating system, you pretty much overwrite your whole computer. Thats what backup disks are for.

If you're lucky, it didn't do a full erase.
Double-click on "My computer" then "C" then "documents and settings" then click on each username, then "my documents" under each username, and see if those "lost" docs are still there.
